Arc 23Madara’s Tailed Beast Hunt
Madara Uchiha was revived through Impure World Reincarnation and began capturing tailed beasts, devastating Iwagakure in the process. Shin protected Nagato by taking his Rinnegan, while Naruto set out for Mount Myōboku to train in Sage Mode, and Shin and Tsunade went to aid Iwagakure.
- Yahiko disguised himself as Pain while Itachi revealed his worsening illness to Shin, accepted medicine, and entrusted Sasuke to him before Asuma learned that Chiriku had been killed.
- Orochimaru summoned Madara Uchiha, who resisted control and learned that Shin led the Uchiha Clan and had disrupted Obito’s plans.
- Madara set out to capture the remaining tailed beasts, while Shin revealed he had placed chakra from five tailed-beast clones in the Demonic Statue and arranged to safeguard Nagato’s Rinnegan.
- Naruto’s team defeated Kakuzu and Hidan, while Madara attacked Iwagakure, overwhelmed its defenders with Wood Release and meteors, and captured Han, the Five-Tails jinchūriki.
- The Great Toad Sage prophesied that a powerful benevolent figure would support the Child of Prophecy, and Jiraiya decided to take Naruto to Mount Myōboku for Sage Mode training.
- After Nagato lost control of the Demonic Statue, Shin replaced his Rinnegan with Mangekyō Sharingan and agreed to arrange Itachi’s final fight with Sasuke.
- Shin told Tsunade that Madara planned to gather the tailed beasts, then learned that Jiraiya would take Naruto away and hurried to meet Naruto as his team returned to Konoha.
- Shin drew Madara’s attention by jolting his Rinnegan, explained to Jiraiya why he had taken Nagato’s eyes, and accompanied Tsunade and Shizune to the ruined Iwagakure to treat Ōnoki.
