The letter soon reached Aegon.
Once again, he dismissed everyone and sat alone on the lion throne.
The hall was empty, with only the fire crackling in the hearth. He unfolded the letter, his gaze settling on a name mentioned within.
Jon Snow.
The son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark.
His younger half brother.
By all rights, he ought to have hated the man.
All the rotten things Rhaegar had done: abandoning his wife and daughter, using some supposed "prophecy" to lure away the betrothed daughter of the lord of the North, and ultimately sparking the War of the Usurper.
His actions could be called the fuse that brought down the Targaryen Dynasty, and they had indirectly killed Aegon's mother, Elia, and his sister, Rhaenys.
But on second thought, Rhaegar was Rhaegar, and Jon was Jon.
A child raised in the North by Eddard Stark as his bastard, who did not even know who his real parents were-what fault could possibly lie with him?
In the end, all of it was that lunatic Rhaegar's fault.
If anyone deserved blame, it was him.
Unfortunately, the man had died at the Trident, and no one even knew where his body was.
Still...
The improved version of "greensight" the system had given him when he checked in at Harrenhal used King Ghidorah's abilities as a medium. Since his power and King Ghidorah's were linked, descending into the past through it did not seem impossible.
Perhaps he really could return to the past.
If that happened, he would make sure to beat Rhaegar senseless and ask whether his brain had turned to mush:
He had a wife and children, yet because of a prophecy, he had lured away a young girl from the North and eloped south with her, indirectly sparking the War
