Aegon climbed the steps of the Prince's Residence and headed toward the main entrance, where a group of familiar figures waited.
Luciana, governor of the Narrow Sea Domain, stood at the front. Behind her were the Residence's key staff-the treasurer, the secretary, and Daenerys's maid, Lya.
Everyone watched him, their eyes filled with relief and joy.
Luciana stepped forward and bowed slightly. "Your Highness, welcome home."
Aegon looked at her reddened eyes and smiled. "Your eyes are red. Did you miss me that much?"
Luciana flushed faintly. "The wind was a little strong, that's all. It got in my eyes."
"Is that so?" Aegon did not expose her excuse. He strode inside. "Then the wind in Lys is quite considerate, choosing to blow just when I come home."
Luciana followed at his side without taking up the banter, quietly leading the way.
They passed through the entrance hall and entered a reception room farther inside. Once Aegon had taken the seat at the head of the long table, Daenerys sat beside him. A maid brought cool drinks and withdrew, leaving the door half-closed to shut out the clamor outside.
Luciana began a brief report on the situation following the defense of the three cities...
Order had been restored in Lys, Myr, and Tyrosh, the losses were manageable, and trade was being rebuilt. Her account was concise and clear.
After listening, Aegon nodded. "With you here, I don't have to worry about any of this nonsense."
"It's my duty." Luciana lowered her head.
At that moment, Lya, who had been standing to one side, could contain herself no longer. She stepped forward, her voice trembling slightly with excitement. "Prince Aegon! Princess! Those dragon eggs... nearly half have hatched."
Aegon's eyes stirred at the news, and even the ever-composed Daenerys looked surprised.
