"Then I went Beyond the Wall," Viserys continued. "At the Fist of the First Men, I met the Wildlings."

He told them about Ygritte, about the Three-Eyed Crow guiding him, about the Children of the Forest, and about meeting the Greenseer Brynden. Rhaenys and Daenerys listened, utterly absorbed, their eyes unblinking.

"Is the Greenseer really Brynden? But wouldn't he be over a hundred and fifty years old by now? He's actually still alive?" Rhaenys asked in surprise.

"He is indeed Brynden, the Duke Bloodraven of history. Though in his current state, he's barely alive," Viserys said.

He went on, telling them about Caste's keep, the Night's Watch tracking Caste, the appearance of the Others, and the battle that night. When he described the Others ambushing them, Daenerys gave a soft gasp and unconsciously tightened her grip on Viserys's sleeve.

Only when she heard how he and King Ghidorah had destroyed those Others did she breathe a sigh of relief.

"It's a shame I wasn't there," she muttered. "Vermax and the others could have helped."

"When you're a little older," Viserys said, "I'll take you with me."

Daenerys murmured her satisfaction, but when he reached the part about Benjen returning from the dead, both girls' mouths fell open in astonishment.

"Did he really die?" Daenerys asked curiously.

"He died," Viserys said. "But then he came back to life."

"What do you mean?" Rhaenys asked.

Viserys explained how Benjen had become a creature that was half human and half Other, describing his eyes turning ice blue and how he had been bound and brought back to the Wall.

Rhaenys fell silent for a moment, then said, "Will he really still remember who he is?"

"He will," Viserys said. "At least, he still does for now."

As he continued talking, Daenerys yawned. It
