Daenerys stood on the docks at the harbor of Lys, watching the sailors carry crate after crate of supplies aboard the ships. She had already waited here for two days, and she was running out of patience.

"How much longer before we can leave?" she asked the fleet steward beside her.

Harren was the official Duke William had left in Lys to handle the fleet's affairs. He had spent half his life in the Dragonstone Fleet, then served under Viserys for another decade or more. Most of his black beard had turned gray.

Now, however, he had settled down in Lys, married a beautiful wife, and had several children. Much the same was true of most of the old Dragonstone veterans. Although the majority had chosen to settle on the Valyrian Peninsula, many had scattered to other places as he had.

For men of common birth like them, had they not chosen to follow Viserys back then, they might never have attained their current standard of living.

Harren glanced at the cargo manifest in his hand, then at the workers on the docks, before saying respectfully to Daenerys, "Three more days at the earliest, Your Highness. The fleet needs fresh water and food, and some of the ships were damaged during the voyage. We'll need craftsmen to repair them..."

"I can't wait three days," Daenerys interrupted.

Harren opened his mouth to say something, then closed it again. Having followed Viserys for so many years, he knew perfectly well that once a Targaryen made up their mind, there was no talking them out of it.

"I'm going to ride a dragon to King's Landing," Daenerys said, excitement creeping into her voice. "Acmot and the others fly very fast. I think we can get there in two days."

Harren hesitated, looking back
