"And the smithies in the city," Daenerys added. "Lady Mia took me to see a new smithy she had set up in that lane outside Casterly Rock. It makes farming tools and things for ships, specifically for the harbor and the farmers nearby."
"The smith wielding the hammer came from Dorne. He has a very steady hand. Lady Mia said he used to forge weapons for House Martell in Sunspear, but after offending someone, he fled to the Westerlands to make a living. She also had him show me a short knife he had made. The edge was ground very thin, so it should be good for cutting things. I think that's worth introducing elsewhere."
When Daenerys finished, she tilted her head and looked at Viserys, her eyes seeming to await his judgment on whether her morning had been well spent.
Viserys listened, then nodded and said approvingly, "It sounds as though your morning was more interesting than my trip to Lannisport."
"Of course it was," Daenerys said with a hint of pride. "You looked at tax ledgers and warehouses at the harbor. I looked at smithies and hounds. Think for yourself-which was more interesting?"
This time, Viserys did not answer her remark. He merely tilted his head toward the exit of the riding grounds and said, "Come on, Dany. It looks like our provisions and water are ready. We should be off."
Daenerys gave a slightly dazed murmur of assent, then followed Viserys. They had barely passed through the low wooden gate beside the riding grounds when they saw Alliser approaching with a group of people from beside the hitching posts.
They bowed to Viserys and Daenerys before saying, "Your Grace, everything you requested is ready."
