"They... the Death Servants seem to be in a strange state!"
Emiya yelled towards Jiu De Mayi, who was beside him. She and the others were frantically unleashing firepower with their MP7 submachine guns. The deafening close-range gunfire forced him to shout.
"Team Member Jiu De, I have a feeling—their target isn't us, but they're trying to escape outwards!"
"Well said, Team Member Emiya! I can see that too, but can you tell the Death Servants not to casually slaughter us when they charge over? Or how about letting us run first, and they slow down and follow behind? Just don't get itchy hands and attack us?"
Jiu De Mayi was also yelling at the top of her lungs.
"How is that possible?! Who understands the language and thoughts of these monsters?"
"Exactly! When rivals meet on a narrow road, the brave one wins!" Jiu De Mayi jumped topics, suddenly blurting out a line.
"..." Emiya thought to himself, shouldn't there be a follow-up line here? What happens when the brave meet?
The disjointed conversation only lasted for a moment. The total number of these fleeing Death Servants wasn't too large, and the tunnel wasn't wide, offering them no extra space to dodge. The bullets hit them almost point-blank, so they were quickly completely defeated under the concentrated firepower of the team.
Finally, when Jiu De Mayi's feet were covered in a pile of jingling shell casings, the Death Servants had also turned into disgusting piles of corpses and fragments on the ground, with a few half-crippled ones still twitching occasionally.
Most of the group frowned, covered their noses, and held their breath before stepping over this slaughterhouse of death. Meanwhile, the suspected abnormal escape of the Death Servants was reported to Wa Lord.
Wa Lord immediately replied: They were allowed to continue exploring for a while, but if they encountered unknown dangerous enemies, they should immediately return. As for her, she would provide support and assistance from the outside.
Footsteps echoed alternately in the long tunnel. The exploration along the way then fell into complete silence; no more Death Servants frantically fleeing and scurrying out.
The passage they walked through was still flowing with foul-smelling black blood and unknown viscous fluids, as well as very fresh specks of flesh and scattered bones. The air was filled with a nauseating stench.
It seemed that even during their suspected escape, the Death Servants couldn't suppress the bloodthirsty genes in their physical instincts. They would even cannibalize their own kind.
Eliminating the Death Servants was undoubtedly the correct choice.
They walked quietly along the tunnel, gradually approaching the end, where a faint light was visible ahead.
Emiya, who found the view ahead to be good, immediately used Reinforcement on his eyes to get a clear view of the distance—
Ahead was a vast and bright underground space, but the environment inside looked like it had been ravaged by an invisible storm, plowed over completely.
Coffin lids were scattered everywhere, some opened, some broken, with rotten old corpses falling out. Some were shriveled into tiny black lumps, while others were simply reduced to black ash, as if their entire bodies had been thrown into a crematorium.
But all of Emiya's attention was instantly drawn to the figure in the center: it was a terrifying dark figure, tall like a tower, riding a horse. The magnificent steed moved with eight strong and agile legs, and the person on its back wore heavy, dark golden armor.
He held a curved long spear, his tall figure wore a dark blue cloak over his shoulders, and he wore an iron mask, with only one eye visible, like a bright golden-yellow intimidating searchlight in the black abyss.
This appearance made his identity obvious—the chief god of the Aesir in Norse mythology, Odin!
Emiya stopped the group from moving forward, looking as if he had seen a ghost... How could a god-level deity appear in modern times? Shouldn't deities stay properly on the other side of the world... Or did someone summon him?
Tighten up and run.
Emiya moved his lips, making gestures and mouthing words, signaling the still-confused group to quickly and quietly retreat and escape.
He recalled examples of summoning deities in modern times. Besides the FGO worldline where deities were everywhere, there was also a Holy Grail War in North America, where Ishtar, the goddess of war and beauty and "Mistress of Heaven" from Mesopotamian Mythology, was summoned.
(Appeared in Fate/strange Fake, not the Ishtar possessing Rin Tohsaka, her personality is closer to the original)
Ishtar's most brutal and terrifying act in mythology was that she destroyed Mount Ebih, a sacred mountain revered by the king of the gods (the mountain's area was about half of Iraq), simply because she "disliked" it. Her Heavenly Bull, Gugalanna, could drain the entire 2045-kilometer-long Tigris River.
When this Heavenly Bull was summoned in modern times, its body was a cumulonimbus cloud hundreds of kilometers in size. It could stir up super typhoons in several states in North America and create thunderstorms with tens of thousands of lightning strikes. It could almost destroy a city with a single hoof stomp.
Even so, Ishtar clearly couldn't be compared to Odin. As a chief god and the pinnacle of a divine system, Odin should be comparable to Ishtar's father, Anu, the god of the sky.
In other words, the output of a chief god level was still above that.
Emiya, who deeply understood this great terror, pulled the group back the way they came, not daring to look even one more time...
He didn't dare guess whether this Odin was the deity's true body or some other state. He wasn't Yan Shuangying, who could coolly pretend and gamble that the other person's gun was empty.
Tap, tap, tap.
Not long after, as Emiya and the others returned along the tunnel, the sound of horse hooves growing closer suddenly came from behind them.
He instantly tensed up. Odin had noticed them and was coming!
"Hurry!"
Emiya roared. Seeing his anxious mood and solemn expression, Jiu De Mayi and the others didn't act like lagging teammates asking questions. Instead, they decisively chose to trust his judgment and sped up their escape.
At this time, Emiya casually grabbed a spare sword bag from the back of a Zhou Family disciple and tied it to his own back. Then, he drew another weapon, the Tai'a Sword, from the sword bag he was carrying.
Tai'a, also known as Tai'a.
Legend has it that the Jin State besieged the capital of the Chu State for three years, wanting to seize the national treasure, the Tai'a Sword. The King of Chu stubbornly refused. Finally, he even personally went to the city wall. Facing the vast army of the Jin State like a boundless ocean, the King of Chu drew the Tai'a Sword. Immediately, a burst of sword energy shot out, and outside the city, sand and stones flew. A moment later, the flags were on the ground, and the enemy army was completely annihilated.
Emiya raised this sword, infused it with Mana, and awakened the Alchemy Domain of the legendary famous sword. The sword body first hummed, and then began to summon the elements of heaven and earth.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
Fierce wind elements transformed into high-pressure strong winds carrying countless sharp debris within the tunnel, creating a huge rumbling echo and rushing towards Odin, who was approaching on horseback, along the narrow path.
The flying sand and stones that obscured the view instantly engulfed Odin's figure. Countless debris in the storm, like deadly hidden weapons from all directions with no blind spots, were unavoidable, making a dense cracking sound as they hit.
