"As you wish, Lord Beerus," Son Goku said with a smile.
Before his words had faded, Son Goku appeared behind Beerus, raised his hand high, and chopped toward his neck. The afterimage where he had just stood had yet to disappear, a testament to his incredible speed.
His body's instinctive response allowed Beerus to dodge the strike, and he swept a spinning kick toward Son Goku behind him.
The fierce attack shattered Son Goku's afterimage. At the same time, another attack from behind triggered Beerus's Ultra Instinct again. He ducked his feline head beneath Son Goku's fist and drove an elbow toward him.
As expected, he struck another afterimage.
At that same moment, pain shot through Beerus's abdomen.
Son Goku's elbow had slammed into his stomach.
Clutching his stomach, Beerus said, "What's going on? Why didn't my Ultra Instinct sense that attack?"
Having landed a hit, Son Goku did not attack again. He said to Beerus, "Lord Beerus, could it be that my attack was faster than your body could react, so your Ultra Instinct didn't trigger?"
Beerus fell silent for a moment, then said, "You have a point, but that one hit wasn't enough to decide the winner. Let's keep going."
Son Goku nodded and charged at Beerus again.
Halfway there, Son Goku vanished. This time, even Beerus could no longer track him.
The next instant, Beerus's body automatically twisted aside, but he still failed to evade Son Goku's attack. Son Goku's Black Tiger Steals the Heart struck him square in the chest and sent him flying backward.
Beerus barely steadied himself as he flew, narrowly avoiding Son Goku's size 45 boot.
But before he could counterattack, Son Goku grabbed his tail.
Now even Ultra Instinct was of no use.
Gripping Beerus's tail, Son Goku began spinning in place.
