Trunks noticed Android 18, Android 16, and Android 17, who was taking a beating. He asked Son Goku, "Uncle Goku, the Androids are already here. Why aren't you destroying them?"
Son Goku said, "Trunks, remember what I told you? To you, this is a parallel world. A lot of things will play out differently here."
Trunks fell silent for a moment, then said, "You mean these Androids are different from the ones in my world?"
Son Goku said, "That's right. They aren't the monsters from your world. They all have minds of their own."
Trunks said, "I see."
Son Goku continued, "Besides, with so many powerful fighters keeping an eye on them, we don't have to worry about them causing trouble."
Trunks nodded, then leaned toward Son Goku conspiratorially. "Uncle Goku, has my father Vegeta gotten married in this world?"
Son Goku smiled. "No. You're really asking whether the you of this world has been born yet, aren't you?"
Trunks scratched his head and said sheepishly, "Yes, Uncle Goku."
Son Goku smiled. "The you of this world has indeed been born, but he's Bulma's and my second son. His name is Son Kesi."
"Huh? Th-that's..." Trunks stood frozen in shock, unable to form a coherent sentence.
Son Goku said, "Don't get hung up on it, Trunks. Everything in this world has its own course. If fate arranged things this way, there must be a reason. You can think of Son Kesi as this world's version of you, or you can think of him as someone else entirely. Neither changes your own existence, does it?"
Trunks pondered that for a moment, then said, "You're right, Uncle Goku. I was getting too caught up in it."
Son Goku nodded. "I'm glad you understand."
While they were talking, Vegeta had already begun charging a powerful attack to finish Android 17 off.
Seeing this, Son Goku darted between the two of them. Just then, Vegeta's Final Flash shot straight toward him.
Son Goku slapped it away, sending it flying into the sky.
Vegeta roared, "Kakarot, what are you doing? Weren't we going to kill the Androids? Why are you saving him now?"
Son Goku said, "Vegeta, the Androids in our world are different from the ones in Trunks's world. They aren't purely evil. There's no need to kill them."
Vegeta said, "Fine. You're stronger, so you call the shots."
Son Goku smiled. "Your son from another world, Trunks, is here. Go take a look."
Vegeta's mouth twitched. He looked down, spotted Trunks on the ground, and descended.
Son Goku turned to Android 17, who was battered all over, took a Senzu Bean from his pocket, and handed it to him. "Lapis, eat this Senzu Bean. It'll heal your injuries."
Lapis asked, "Son Goku, I only looked away for a little while. Why do you look different now? And how do you know my name? Why did you save me?"
Son Goku smiled. "This is one of my transformations. As for your name, your sister told me, of course, my future brother-in-law."
Lapis asked in shock, "What did you call me?"
Son Goku smiled. "My brother-in-law. You might not know this, but your sister and I fell in love at first sight. We've already promised ourselves to each other."
"What? You're kidding, right? Dr. Gero ordered us to kill you, and you actually fell for my sister? That's absurd on top of absurd-absurdity taken to a whole new level!" Lapis exclaimed.
Son Goku said, "Just tell me this: do you actually intend to kill me?"
Lapis shook his head. "I killed Dr. Gero myself. Why would I follow a dead man's orders? What's wrong with living free? Besides, you're so strong that we should count ourselves lucky you aren't killing us. We'd have to be out of our minds to try to kill you."
Son Goku said, "There you go, then. Your sister is beautiful, and I'm incredibly powerful. What's so surprising about us falling for each other?"
Lapis thought it over and found that reasonable, though something still felt off.
Son Goku said, "You want to become powerful too, don't you, my brother-in-law? Once things are settled between your sister and me, I'll help you get stronger. You might not be able to trounce Vegeta, but you'll at least be about as strong as him. Then you can get him back for the beating he gave you today."
The more Lapis listened, the more fired up he became. His eyes reddened as he said, "All right, brother-in-law. Leave this to me."
Son Goku was inwardly ecstatic. He knew his relationship with Lazuli was as good as settled now.
"Good. With your promise, I can rest easy," he said. "Let's head down. I'll talk things through with everyone, and then we can all be friends."
Lapis nodded.
The two descended toward the others.
They heard Vegeta shouting from far away.
"What? Nappa, you're saying this kid has already mastered full-power Super Saiyan 3?"
Nappa said, "That's right, Vegeta. Kakarot asked him himself just now."
Vegeta was stunned. He kept staring at Trunks, making him thoroughly uncomfortable.
Just then, Son Goku and Lapis landed in front of everyone.
Son Goku introduced him. "You all know Android 17 already. His real name is Lapis. Unlike the two monsters in Trunks's world, he isn't an evil person."
Everyone nodded.
Son Goku then introduced everyone to Lapis. Although Lapis already knew who they were from Dr. Gero's files, he still greeted them one by one, getting to know them afresh.
At that moment, Android 18 and Android 16 joined them.
Lazuli asked Lapis, "Why did you come over to their side?"
Lapis said, "My brother-in-law brought me over. With you and him together, we'll all be friends from now on, so naturally I should get acquainted."
Flustered and angry, Lazuli said, "Son Goku, what nonsense have you been telling my brother? I haven't agreed to anything yet!"
Lapis said, "Sis, stop hesitating. Where else are you going to find someone as powerful, handsome, and commanding as my brother-in-law?"
"You little bastard! What did Son Goku say to bewitch you? You sold me out in the blink of an eye!" Lazuli snapped.
"Never mind what he said to bewitch me. Just tell me whether you want this or not!" Lapis said.
Lazuli stammered, "I haven't made up my mind yet."
Lapis smiled. "Sis, since you haven't refused, that means you've agreed. It's only a matter of time now."
Lazuli decided to stop dancing around it. "Son Goku, I agree. But how are you going to explain this to Bulma and Chi-Chi?"
This brother-in-law really comes through! Son Goku thought. Overjoyed, he said, "Lazuli, don't worry. I'll persuade them."
Lazuli said, "Then we'll talk once you've persuaded them."
Son Goku said, "All right. Wait for me. I'll persuade them as soon as I can."
