"Zimu, is your leg feeling any better?"
Shen Yun reclined in Meng Zimu's arms, clearly sensing that the man beneath him was in a foul mood.
"Yes, much better."
Meng Zimu had just left the Meng Family Estate. Frustrated and restless, he had found himself at Shen Yun's place without even realizing it.
Shen Yun heard the perfunctory note in his voice. A vicious glint flashed through his eyes, but his tone turned gentle again a moment later.
"Zimu, that matter I mentioned to you before-we've made some progress."
Only then did his words draw Meng Zimu out of his thoughts.
"Oh? You mean Jiang Ze's parents?"
Shen Yun nestled closer into his arms. With that seemingly careless movement, his shirt slipped open a little, exposing a broad expanse of pale, pink-tinged skin.
"Yes. Jiang Ze's parents came to see me a couple of days ago. They agreed to what we proposed."
The same viciousness suddenly appeared on Meng Zimu's handsome face. His hand grew restless too, slipping beneath Shen Yun's open collar and beginning to roam.
"A Yun, I'm sorry you had to suffer before. My second uncle treats that Jiang Ze like a treasure now. Today, he even spoke up himself over a box of pastries!"
It was hard to tell whether his tone held resentment or something else. He seemed to feel that someone had stolen what rightfully belonged to him, a trace of bitterness lurking beneath his words.
"But it doesn't matter. Jiang Ze will pay for his stupidity soon enough!"
Meng Zimu kissed Shen Yun's cheek, a smile on his face.
A flicker of disgust crossed Shen Yun's eyes, but his expression remained coy and bashful, his gaze full of desire.
Before long, the two were tangled together.
Jiang Ze suddenly received an unexpected phone call that day.
"Hey, Jiang Ze, you little bastard! Where have you been screwing around instead of coming home all this time?"
Hearing the familiar male voice over the phone, Jiang Ze was a little surprised.
He had been away from home for so long without anyone coming to look for him, yet now they were suddenly calling.
Something was definitely wrong.
The caller was none other than the original owner's father, Jiang Zhengming, a man worse than any beast.
"Heh. What would I go back for? To let you beat me?"
"You little bastard! Think you're all grown up now, do you? Fine, fine, fine. If you don't want to see your father, surely you want to see what your mother left you?"
Jiang Ze's eyes flickered. He had known the old bastard had an ulterior motive.
"So?"
His tone was icy, but Jiang Zhengming chuckled on the other end.
"I hear you've hooked up with Meng Zhiyuan, the head of the Meng Family. You must be enjoying his favor right now. Your father happens to have a project he'd like to work on with the Meng Family. Let's discuss the details in person!"
Jiang Ze frowned. Why was Meng Zhiyuan being dragged into this again? But then he thought of the original owner's mother. Whether he wanted to or not, he had to go.
"Where?"
After hanging up, Jiang Ze pondered Jiang Zhengming's real reason for seeking him out.
Of all the times he could have called, he had chosen now. Besides, Jiang Ze and Meng Zhiyuan had hardly ever appeared together in front of anyone else. Someone must have deliberately mentioned them to Jiang Zhengming.
What was the motive? Was this really just about discussing a project?
Unable to figure it out, Jiang Ze stopped dwelling on it. He would deal with whatever came his way.
As it happened, he had no classes that afternoon. When the appointed time approached, he deliberately picked a moment when the man was out and slipped away.
Once he reached the agreed location, Jiang Ze looked around, found the private room, and walked inside.
Jiang Zhengming was sitting on a sofa with a sleazy middle-aged man beside him. The moment Jiang Ze entered, the man began looking him up and down with a sickening gaze.
Jiang Ze frowned and cut straight to the point.
"What belongings of my mother's do you still have?"
Jiang Zhengming wore his hair slicked back and looked impatient. "That bitch did leave something behind. A rundown house. I have the deed, but you'll have to agree to my terms before I give it to you!"
"I want to see it first."
Jiang Ze gave him an indifferent glance. Without another word, he turned to leave.
"Hey! I brought it with me!"
Jiang Zhengming pulled a property deed booklet from inside his jacket and slapped it onto the table.
Jiang Ze glanced at it. It was indeed something the original owner's mother had left behind.
"What are your terms?"
"Hehe, nothing difficult. You haven't been with Meng Zhiyuan long, and you're my son, after all. I won't make things hard for you. Forget the project. All you need to do is have a drink with this gentleman beside me."
Jiang Zhengming pointed at the man with the lecherous gaze, his tone suggestive.
The corner of Jiang Ze's mouth curled up, and his fists clenched with a crack of his knuckles.
Good. Apparently, I didn't beat him hard enough before.
Jiang Zhengming tried to say something else, but barely got one word out before Jiang Ze kicked him to the floor.
"Drink, my ass!"
Jiang Ze landed two heavy punches, leaving Jiang Zhengming seeing stars just as he struggled back up.
"You... Jiang Ze, you little bastard! You dare hit your own father..."
Jiang Ze kicked him again, sending him sprawling facedown once more.
"Old Huang, what are you standing around for? Get him!"
The sleazy man beside him seemed stunned. Jiang Zhengming had already taken several kicks, yet he still had not moved.
Only Jiang Zhengming's shout snapped him out of it, and he immediately tried to help pin Jiang Ze down.
Jiang Ze was about to kick when he realized Jiang Zhengming had clamped both arms around his legs. He could only swing his fist hard, knocking the man lunging at him aside.
Although his body was still weak, he could just about handle two middle-aged men. The problem was that the private room had been locked as soon as he entered, and the cramped space left him little room to maneuver.
"Fuck, how is he so good at fighting? Jiang Zhengming, are you sure this is your son?"
Jiang Zhengming was just as baffled, but the beating had left him too dazed to think about it.
While Old Huang kept Jiang Ze occupied, he quickly pulled something from inside his jacket, got up, and stabbed it into Jiang Ze's arm.
Jiang Ze felt a sharp sting in his arm. Alarmed, he kicked Jiang Zhengming away.
"What did you inject me with?"
Although he had pulled away quickly, Jiang Zhengming had still managed to inject a little of the unknown liquid.
"Haha! Luckily, someone warned me to be on my guard and have a backup plan. I was going to make you drink it, but I didn't expect you'd secretly learned to fight. Were you pretending all this time, waiting for the day you could turn the tables?"
Seeing that Jiang Zhengming had succeeded, Old Huang broke into a lewd grin.
"Pretty boy, your dad has already sold you to me. Be good and give in!"
Jiang Ze nearly threw up. Furious, he kicked Jiang Zhengming again.
The old bastard really was worse than a beast. Even a tiger wouldn't eat its own cubs, yet he had actually sold his son-and to such a disgusting old man.
His head grew dizzy, and his body began to heat up. Only then did he realize what the liquid had been.
"System, redeem two Anesthetic Darts."
Forcing down his discomfort, he took advantage of the two old bastards' excitement over their success and took them both out in one stroke.
One second, they were still smiling. The next, they hit the floor.
He let out a breath and staggered to the door. Whoever had been outside seemed to have been sent away long ago. No matter how he pounded or shouted, no one responded.
"Great. Looks like I'll have to break the door down."
Jiang Ze backed away. A flush rose across his face, and even his steps were unsteady, but he still tried to lift his leg to kick the door.
Before he could raise it, however, the door opened.
Jiang Ze looked up to find Meng Zhiyuan standing outside with a dark expression, an anxious Cheng Feng behind him.
For some reason, he immediately felt safe. Only then did he register the fierce heat surging through his body.
He staggered again, but this time he fell into a familiar embrace filled with the scent of temple incense.
"Jiang Ze. Well done. You really have no fear of death."
Through his haze, Jiang Ze heard the man's icy voice, the words seemingly forced through gritted teeth.
