Meng Zhiyuan helped build the Meng family’s fortune while still in his teens. By Jiang Ze’s arrival, he controls the family’s affairs in B City, while his father, Meng Qingshan, has withdrawn from day-to-day leadership. He also previously served in the military, where Meng Cheng served under him; they remain in contact after Zhiyuan leaves the service 2 12 23.
