Background / History
Previous Life and Transmigration
Jiang Ze dies after jumping into the sea to save a child, then awakens inside My White Moonlight, a novel he had read. His new body belongs to a namesake cannon-fodder character whose mistreatment ends in suicide. A system instructs him to pursue one character as a “simp” and accumulate points for a new life; he selects the powerful villain, Meng Zhiyuan 1.
In his previous life, Jiang Ze held a black belt in taekwondo and trained in boxing and sanda. Those skills survive transmigration, although his new body is much frailer. He later asks whether the child he saved survived, and the system’s reassurance finally relieves his lingering guilt about the rescue 3 12.
The Original Jiang Ze
The body’s original owner lost his mother shortly after his father, Jiang Zhengming, exposed his affair by bringing home his mistress and her four-year-old son. Jiang Ze was three at the time. After his mother’s death, Jiang Zhengming married the mistress, Gu Rou, who deprived Jiang Ze of food and routinely beat and berated him. His father also assaulted him while drunk 3.
The original Jiang Ze sought affection from Meng Zimu, who treated him as a substitute for Shen Yun. He copied Shen Yun’s clothing and makeup in an unsuccessful attempt to gain Zimu’s attention. In the novel’s original course, a beating by Zimu’s men was followed by his father’s violence, leaving both legs disabled. His family concealed the abuse as a fall down the stairs, and he eventually took his own life 1 3.
The transmigrated Jiang Ze refuses that outcome. He promises to avenge the original owner’s suffering and live well, later returning to university partly to complete the life and studies the young man left unfinished 6 27.
Appearance
Jiang Ze initially inhabits a slender, delicate-looking body with striking features. Washing away the original owner’s imitation of Shen Yun’s makeup reveals a fresher, more naturally attractive appearance 2 3.
- Fair complexion and fine features: His face is repeatedly described as exceptionally handsome 2 17.
- Beauty mark near his eye: He notices the small mole while checking his gradually changing face 12 74.
- Initially frail physique: The body bears extensive bruises and scars from family abuse and lacks his previous-life strength and eight-pack abs 5 27.
- Gradual facial changes: Soul–body alignment makes him increasingly resemble his former self; the changes are subtle enough that people around him do not notice 5 12.
- Gala attire: Meng Zhiyuan gives him a white couture suit and emerald earrings for a charity event 36.
Personality
Jiang Ze deliberately performs the role of a shy, tearful, innocent admirer. Beneath that presentation, he is outspoken, irreverent, calculating, and quick to retaliate. His sweet remarks frequently contrast with a blunt inner monologue—an especially precarious habit while Meng Zhiyuan can hear his thoughts 2 3 27.
His deception is not limited to romance. He turns his father’s favoritism against the Jiang family, substitutes a fake for Shen Yun’s treasured pendant, and provokes distrust between armed captors to free his classmates. He also enjoys humiliating Meng Zimu and considers covert retaliation with itching powder rather than enduring insults 4 22 27 57.
His compassion is genuine. He dies rescuing a child, helps reunite Meng Ziqing with his family, protects the boy from bullying, and remains behind during the tomb-robber escape to recover artifacts. He rejects the assumption that the novel’s protagonists must be righteous, condemning their treatment of Meng Zhiyuan and Feng 1 5 12 15 57.
Jiang Ze’s self-reliance can become recklessness: he investigates dangerous situations without telling his protectors and is repeatedly injured or trapped. As his attachment to Meng Zhiyuan deepens, he learns to seek help, acknowledges that he cannot bear to leave him, and eventually plans to pay for a proposal ring with his own earnings 34 35 61 99.
Abilities & Skills
Martial Arts
Jiang Ze retains combat knowledge from his previous life, including taekwondo, boxing, and sanda 3.
- Dodges his father’s thrown ashtray and retaliates against him 3 4.
- Fights Jiang Zhengming and Old Huang despite the new body’s weakness 34.
- His training does not make him invulnerable: confinement, multiple attackers, and an injected drug nearly overwhelm him 34 35.
Acting and Social Manipulation
He uses fabricated devotion, staged tears, and apparent vulnerability to influence others 2 3.
- Secures shelter by presenting himself to Meng Zhiyuan as a rejected admirer 4 5.
- Persuades Meng Zhiyuan to wear the Lucky Jade Pendant through a theatrical display of gratitude 26.
- Stages an artifact theft and implicates Meng Zimu to turn the tomb robbers against their allies 57.
- Misleads Qiao Si about his relationship with Meng Zhiyuan, then uses affection to provoke the would-be rival 72.
Narrative Foreknowledge
Having read My White Moonlight, Jiang Ze knows many intended opportunities, betrayals, and deaths 1.
- Interferes with Shen Yun’s planned encounter with Meng Zhiyuan at the Meng Group 6 7.
- Recognizes the significance of the mountain pendant and the Rare Treasures Pavilion 17 28.
- Warns Meng Cheng about the danger surrounding his demolition mission 61.
- Supplies information that helps Meng Zhiyuan neutralize financial threats 85.
- His knowledge is incomplete: the novel barely describes some supporting characters and never identifies Shen Yun’s mysterious benefactor 13 50.
System Exchange and Storage
The system provides a points-based shop containing supplies, weapons, medicine, supernatural items, and storage slots 3 5 16.
- Points are earned by helping Meng Zhiyuan, making him happy, completing missions, and changing important plot events 5 33 85.
- Storage conceals survival supplies and later holds recovered artifacts 16 57.
- The initially purchased slots cannot hold living creatures; suitable living-storage slots cost more and are smaller 16.
- Items far beyond the world’s limits are prohibited because they could cause its collapse 3.
- Access is unreliable: when Meng Zhiyuan is critically ill, the system does not answer and Jiang Ze cannot use the exchange interface 93.
Mind-Reading
A reward allows Jiang Ze to hear Meng Zhiyuan’s otherwise unspoken feelings and desires 65.
- Uses that information to recognize hurt, offer reassurance, and respond to Meng Zhiyuan’s wishes 65 72.
- Affection sometimes lowers Meng Zhiyuan’s corruption, but the stat’s erratic behavior prevents Jiang Ze from reliably controlling it 65 66.
- The ability disappears with the system 99.
Survival, First Aid, and Animal Handling
Jiang Ze combines advance preparation with system supplies to survive remote environments 16 58.
- Uses a system pill that attracts animals and makes gentle animals obey simple commands; employs an elephant during the group’s escape and a donkey to leave his confinement 57 70.
- Disinfects and bandages Meng Zhiyuan’s bleeding injuries, then uses Spirit Spring Water to accelerate healing 59 60.
- Benefits from a system-activated protective barrier during a mountain collapse; the barrier is not presented as an innate ability 58.
Archaeology and Appraisal
Jiang Ze resumes the original owner’s archaeology studies and prepares by reviewing specialized knowledge 27 28.
- Identifies a supposed Qing Dynasty vase as a convincing late-Qing copy with the system’s assistance 30.
- Assists Professor Lü during the restoration of damaged porcelain 57.
- Recovers stolen artifacts rather than leaving them with the tomb robbers 57.
- His successful appraisal does not establish independent expert-level knowledge; the system supplies crucial information 30.
Equipment / Weapons / Items

- System storage slots — Used for food, wilderness equipment, travel supplies, and artifacts 16 54 57.
- Lucky Jade Pendant — Improves its owner’s luck over time. Jiang Ze takes it from Shen Yun, then gives it to Meng Zhiyuan because it adds little to his own already high luck 17 22 26.
- Spirit Spring Water — Costs 10,000 points per drop; restores energy, accelerates healing, and supports spirit-fruit growth 25 27 59.
- Spirit-fruit plant — Secretly grown in a flowerpot using costly seeds and Spirit Spring Water. Its ripe fruit later stabilizes the critically ill Meng Zhiyuan 27 35 93.
- Anesthetic darts — Two system-provided darts knock out Jiang Zhengming and Old Huang after Jiang Ze is drugged 34.
- Character Card — A hidden-mission reward that temporarily gives him realistic, sensitive cat ears and a movable fluffy tail 33 53.
- Experience Cards — Connected to side-story scenarios in which he and Meng Zhiyuan occupy other roles and worlds 106.
Relationships
- Meng Zhiyuan — Initially his chosen system target, then his protector, employer, lover, and fiancé. Jiang Ze’s performed devotion develops into genuine attachment; their relationship also includes jealousy, confinement, and coercive control during Meng’s corruption crisis 1 5 61 73 90 102.
- The original Jiang Ze — The former owner of his body. Jiang Ze sympathizes with his suffering and takes responsibility for avenging him and continuing his studies 6 27.
- Jiang Zhengming — The body’s abusive biological father. Jiang Ze retaliates against his violence; Zhengming later uses the late mother’s inheritance to lure him into an exploitation attempt 3 4 34.
- Gu Rou and Jiang Wenbin — The original owner’s cruel stepmother and favored older half-brother. Jiang Ze manipulates the household into blaming Wenbin for his father’s beating 3 4.
- Meng Zimu — The original owner’s former pursuit target and abuser. Jiang Ze rejects him publicly; their antagonism escalates into schemes and armed captivity 1 26 34 56.
- Shen Yun — A reborn adversary whose opportunities Jiang Ze disrupts. Shen retaliates through rumors, conspiracies, and attempts to undermine his relationship with Meng Zhiyuan 6 12 28 34 49.
- Meng Ziqing — Meng Zhiyuan’s missing nephew, whom Jiang Ze helps return to his family. Ziqing trusts him, and Jiang Ze protects him from bullying and advocates for medical assessment of his voice 12 13 15 16.

- Meng Zhixing — Ziqing’s father. Jiang Ze supports their reunion and sends an antidote that improves Zhixing’s health; Zhixing later helps secure access to Meng Zhiyuan’s hospital ward 13 76 93.
- Feng / Elder Feng — A warm, protective household steward who supplies food and medicine. Jiang Ze privately condemns the original plot’s treatment of him and later conceals Meng Zhiyuan’s critical condition to spare him distress 5 93.
- Cheng Feng — His bodyguard and university driver, assigned by Meng Zhiyuan. Jiang Ze recognizes him as the protagonist’s intended future right-hand man 25 28 35.
- Mu Shaoxuan — A sociable friend who brings him news, invites the couple on outings, and regularly teases their romance 36 85 87.
- Professor Lü and Dong Jiansheng — Teacher and fellow student involved in the appraisal trip. Jiang Ze assists them with restoration and arranges their escape from the tomb robbers 54 56 57.
- Wang Ping and Yang Qing — Classmates he helps rescue. Their later visit becomes uncomfortable because of Wang Ping’s apparent romantic interest and Yang Qing’s barbed remarks 57 74 75.
- The system — Initially his guide and source of resources. Its evasions and pressure make him increasingly suspicious, culminating in his belief that its true objective is Meng Zhiyuan’s death 5 87 90 93.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Rejecting the Cannon-Fodder Fate

- After retaliating against his abusive father, he leaves the Jiang home and obtains shelter with Meng Zhiyuan 3 4 5.
Changing the Meng Family’s Future
- Helps identify Meng Ziqing through resemblance, system confirmation, and a DNA test, then supports the child’s reunion with Meng Zhixing 12 13.
- Defends Ziqing against younger relatives and draws attention to the possibility that his damaged voice can be treated 15 16.
- His knowledge of the original story repeatedly gives Meng Zhiyuan reasons to investigate threats that would otherwise remain hidden 3 5 61 85.
*Wild Mountain Survival*
- Joins the program to interfere with an important stage of Shen Yun’s rise and prepares concealed survival supplies 16 17.
- Takes the Lucky Jade Pendant while Shen Yun is occupied with trapping him. Meng Zhiyuan urgently searches for him after his disappearance 21 22.
- Gains fans when the show airs, although the system warns that Shen Yun’s repaired public image limits the effect on the larger plot 35 36.
University and Tomb-Robber Captivity
- Returns to archaeology studies and enters the Rare Treasures Pavilion, a future source of resources for Shen Yun and Meng Zimu 27 28.
- During Professor Lü’s appraisal trip, armed tomb robbers capture the group. Jiang Ze exploits their mistrust, evacuates his companions, and recovers the artifacts 56 57.
- Injured and stranded in a storm afterward, he is rescued by Meng Zhiyuan, who suffers serious wounds shielding him. Jiang Ze treats those injuries with first aid and Spirit Spring Water 58 59 60.
Commitment and the Corruption Crisis
- Learns that he can remain in the novel world and realizes he does not want to leave Meng Zhiyuan or have anyone replace him 61.
- Uses his new mind-reading ability and affection to manage Meng Zhiyuan’s corruption, while also negotiating greater proximity through the personal-secretary role 65 72 73.
- Makes a clear confession at the bonfire party, after Meng Zhiyuan argues that people can change their own fate; the confession sharply lowers the corruption value 87.
- As confinement resumes and corruption reaches 100%, Jiang Ze suspects manipulation by the system or World Consciousness. When Meng Zhiyuan becomes critically ill and the exchange interface is unavailable, Jiang Ze saves him with the spirit fruit he had grown earlier 90 93.
