Who Gave Him the Courage to Think She Had to Have Him?

Mother and daughter stared, dumbfounded, unable to react.

Tang Beichen walked over with a friendly air, as though nothing had happened.

"Are you heading out?"

"Where are you going? Let me drive you."

Su Xiajing took a moment to snap out of it, then said flatly, "No need."

His sudden change in attitude back then, signing the divorce agreement without a single objection or complaint, had been nothing like him.

But Su Xiajing had never imagined he could be this shameless!

In her ten lifetimes, Tang Tang had seen plenty of shameless people. But when it came to taking pride in being shameless, sidling up with a brazen smile despite knowing he wasn't welcome, and happily fawning over someone who gave him the cold shoulder, if her scumbag dad ranked second, no one would dare claim first.

She tried to recall what her scumbag dad had been like in her previous lives, but no matter how she looked at it, she couldn't reconcile those versions of him with this one.

She was utterly speechless.

"He's so shameless."

Su Xiajing: "..."

Now you see it, don't you? This is your scumbag dad's true nature.

"Then let me walk you downstairs."

Even after Su Xiajing turned him down, Tang Beichen didn't falter, following them straight into the elevator.

Su Xiajing: "..."

"Our Tangtang is awake too."

Tang Beichen stood beside Su Xiajing and leaned over to talk to Tang Tang. "It's been a whole day. Did you miss Daddy, Tangtang?"

Tang Tang: "..."

"To be precise, it's been twenty-two hours, not twenty-four."

Tang Beichen: "..."

An infant obviously couldn't answer him. After asking his question anyway, Tang Beichen turned his gaze to the small suitcases Sister Wang was holding and those on the floor, looking surprised as though he had only just noticed them.

"Where are you going with all this luggage?"

Su Xiajing glanced at him and said indifferently, "Zhihao came back to the country today. I'm going home to stay for a while."

"Huh?"

Tang Beichen was dumbstruck. "You're going to stay at Dad's?"

"For how long?"

"When are you coming back?"

He had worked so hard to hold himself back all day yesterday so he could move here and surprise mother and daughter. Now that he had finally seen them, Xia Jing was taking Tang Tang to stay with her family?

He hadn't had a proper chance to bond with his daughter for an entire day. They had only just reunited, and now they had to part again?

And now that they were divorced, he couldn't even go with her to her family's home!

So frustrating!

Watching him flounder, his expression shifting through every shade of emotion, Su Xiajing felt little. Her gaze was cold. "I don't know."

Su Zhihao had gone traveling with his classmates the day after finishing his college entrance exams. He had been away for over a month, and she missed him quite a bit.

Tang Beichen's face fell.

How had this happened?

Why did it have to be now?

If she had said yesterday that she was going to stay with her family, or if they had divorced a day later, he would have had an excuse to go with her.

But it had to be the day after their divorce!

Tang Beichen felt as though fate was playing a trick on him.

"Then..."

Tang Beichen stole a glance at Su Xiajing before finally settling his gaze on Tang Tang. Reluctant to part with her, he took her little hand and said pointedly, "I won't see you for days again. Daddy will miss you, Tangtang, so remember to miss Daddy too."

The elevator stopped at basement level one.

Tang Beichen picked up the luggage without being asked and stepped out of the elevator first.

Seeing them emerge, the driver hurried over to help.

After stowing the luggage, Tang Beichen rushed to open the car door as he always had, carefully holding a hand above Su Xiajing's head as she got in.

"Contact me when you're coming back."

With one hand resting on the roof, he bent down to look at Su Xiajing and Tang Tang inside the car. "I'll come pick you up."

"We'll see," Su Xiajing said noncommittally.

"Okay."

Tang Beichen smiled in satisfaction and reluctantly stepped back. "Have a safe trip. Send me a message when you get home."

Su Xiajing didn't answer him again.

Tang Beichen smiled, unbothered, and closed the car door.

Tang Tang watched coldly the entire time.

"What gave him the courage to think Pretty Mommy could let go of her resentment toward that old man and get back together with him?"

"Fish Leong?"

"There are so many handsome men in the world. What makes him think Pretty Mommy has to have him?"
