Luo Mang used his mysterious diary to gain powerful abilities while its readers uncovered visions of Konoha’s future and Sasuke’s path. As Luo Mang befriended Naruto and Danzo plotted against him, Itachi negotiated with Obito for a way to survive, agreeing to work for him to protect Sasuke.

• Sasuke, Itachi, and Kakashi discovered Luo Mang’s diary, which revealed his Sharingan, knowledge of Naruto’s identity, and visions of future events.
• Luo Mang left the Ninja Academy to earn money, gained new abilities through his diary, and recorded a vision of Pain’s invasion that showed Kakashi fighting the attackers and Konoha being destroyed.
• The diary showed Sasuke killing Danzo and Karin, prompting Sasuke to reject that future and Kakashi to consider guiding him, and Luo Mang gained the Byakugan and kept it secret.
• Hinata invited Luo Mang to ramen, where he met Naruto, then helped Naruto take a house-repair mission and shared the pay with him.
• Hiruzen assigned Luo Mang to spend time with Naruto, while Danzo suspected him of being a threat and ordered Root to lure him into the wilderness and kill him.
• Luo Mang gained a pocket world and used it to gather timber and build a house, while Kakashi began training Sasuke and Sasuke set himself the goal of surpassing him.

Luo Mang survived Danzo’s attempt to eliminate him, joined Kakashi’s team, and helped his teammates pass the bell test as new Diary holders learned of future threats. Itachi pursued Roshi but faced both Roshi and Han, leaving the battle unresolved.

• Itachi accepted Obito’s plan to capture tailed beasts in exchange for protecting Sasuke and Konoha, and chose Roshi as his target.
• Luo Mang survived a Root ambush in the Dark Forest with Kakashi’s help, and Sasuke awakened his Sharingan while worrying about him.
• Hiruzen removed Danzō as Root’s leader after confronting him over the mission against Luo Mang.
• Luo Mang joined Kakashi’s team with Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura, and they passed Kakashi’s bell test by sharing their food and valuing their comrades.
• Tsunade and Jiraiya discovered Diaries containing future events, and Jiraiya decided to investigate Otogakure and Orochimaru.
• Luo Mang warned through his Diary about the coming Chunin Exams and Konoha invasion, while Sasuke learned he would meet Karin during the exams.

Luo Mang’s team completed a bandit mission, and his Diary revealed future dangers while his Mangekyo power struck down attackers. As the team escorted Tazuna toward the Land of Waves, Tsunade returned to Konoha searching for Luo Mang, and the Demon Brothers launched their attack.

• Itachi captured Han and Roshi, then left to pursue Orochimaru after learning Orochimaru might attack Konoha during the Chunin Exams.
• Luo Mang shared a video of Orochimaru attacking Sasuke and Naruto, while Itachi decided he would have to stop Orochimaru.
• Kakashi led Luo Mang, Sasuke, Sakura, and Naruto on a bandit-extermination mission, where Luo Mang’s Mangekyo ability called down lightning and killed the bandit leaders threatening Sakura.
• Luo Mang received a thin Ōtsutsuki bloodline and gave it to Hinata to assimilate, while Sakura discovered Hinata at his home and Luo Mang gently rejected Sakura’s advances.
• Jiraiya fought Orochimaru and Itachi, then learned from Itachi that he was an Akatsuki spy who would expose Konoha if Sasuke were harmed.
• Kakashi’s team left Konoha with Tazuna for the Land of Waves, and Luo Mang wrote that Zabuza and Haku would attack them.
• Tsunade returned to Konoha, found Luo Mang’s name in Kakashi’s team report, and learned from his Diary that he had gone to the Land of Waves.
• Luo Mang and Kakashi noticed hidden enemies on the road, and the Demon Brothers attacked before Sasuke shoved Naruto clear and countered with his Sharingan and Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique.

Luo Mang and Team 7 protected Tazuna from Zabuza and Haku while training in the Land of Waves. Haku was captured and Zabuza fled, leaving Kakashi’s team to return to the settlement as the Diary’s visions continued to reveal future threats.

• Luo Mang and Team 7 subdued the attackers, and Tazuna admitted that Gato’s control of maritime trade made the bridge mission dangerous.
• Itachi brought Orochimaru to Amegakure to keep him from targeting Sasuke and asked Pain to examine Orochimaru’s memories.
• Kakashi trapped Zabuza in a Water Prison, but Haku faked Zabuza’s death and took him away.
• At Tazuna’s home, Sakura confessed her feelings to Luo Mang, while Kakashi began chakra-control training for the team.
• The Diary showed Sasuke fighting the Kage at the Five Kage Summit, and Jiraiya grew concerned about the future of Konoha.
• Zabuza and Haku attacked at the bridge, where Haku trapped Naruto and Sasuke in ice mirrors before Kakashi’s team captured him.
• Naruto tried to persuade Haku to betray Zabuza, but Zabuza fled his cave before Kakashi could search Haku’s memories.
• Kakashi chose not to pursue Zabuza, and the group prepared to return to the Land of Waves settlement.
