Background / History
Jun Yuyuan is identified as the crown prince of the Qin Ye Kingdom. Northern Li’s palace servants call him a prince of a fallen kingdom and treat him as an unprotected prisoner, despite his royal title. He retains attendants who address him respectfully and defend his dignity 17 18 19.
His vulnerable position forces him to exercise restraint. He stops Ling Feng from attacking the eunuchs who insult him, and later warns Jin Yun that killing Ye Tangtang would bring Ye Yubei’s investigation down on them. His larger plan remains undisclosed; an attendant also reports a delivered letter and raises the question of whether the Eastern Lin ruler will agree to his request 18 19 35.
Foretold Future
- Conquest of Northern Li: Tangtang and her system identify Jun as the future conqueror who will overthrow Northern Li, with Ye Linmo serving as one of his great generals 9.
- Unification: Tangtang predicts that he will sweep through six kingdoms; the system later describes his ultimate achievement as unifying the Seven Kingdoms and becoming an unparalleled emperor 19 41.
- Revenge: Tangtang believes he will subject those who abused him to exceptionally cruel executions 19.
- Political advantage: Tangtang attributes the ease of his future victory over Northern Li’s army partly to Grand Secretary Lu’s betrayal and support for the Prince of Yan 47.
These are predictions from the story Tangtang knows, not conquests completed during the documented events.
Appearance
- Face and bearing: Handsome, with cool, austere features and a noble bearing; his first appearance gives a sickly impression 5 16.
- Eyes: Dark and piercing, with an expression that can remain composed even while his gaze turns cold 18 30.
- Build: Tall, with a lean waist and long legs. Tangtang reaches only his chest when they pose together 26 28 41.
- Hands: Long, slender fingers and well-defined knuckles, which Tangtang particularly admires 17.
- Clothing: Frequently wears black robes 30 41.
- Reputation: Palace maids admire his looks; one considers him the palace’s most handsome man after Ye Yubei, although he has not yet fully grown into his appearance 37 41.
Personality
Jun is proud, guarded, and difficult to provoke openly. When eunuchs demean him, he maintains a still expression rather than reacting impulsively. His restraint is strategic rather than harmlessness: he kills two eunuchs during a nighttime encounter and responds icily when a subordinate jeopardizes his plans 18 19 26 35.
Tangtang repeatedly disrupts that composure. Her thoughts amuse him, but he is irritated to discover that she approaches him for system points rather than affection. He recognizes her greed and evasions without fully understanding the strange rewards she discusses 6 14 17 30.
His growing attention to her contrasts with his dismissive language. He slows down when she cannot keep up, protects her from a freezing nighttime bath, and spends nearly two hours studying their joint portrait. When Ling Feng suggests that they look like a couple, Jun denies it, becomes embarrassed, and attempts to read a book upside down 27 28 36 41 42.

- Learns that she expects him to return to the palace as a conqueror, prompting him to investigate her secrets 14.
- Recognizes that her requests for physical contact are intended to earn points 17 30.

Swordsmanship
Jun demonstrates lethal sword skills when Tangtang witnesses him killing two eunuchs 26.

- Ye Yubei — Emperor of the kingdom holding him captive. Ye Yubei considers eliminating Jun to prevent Northern Li’s predicted fall, but concludes that killing him will not solve the problem after hearing Tangtang’s warning 17 18.
- Shen Qingqing — Tangtang’s mother. She becomes wary of Jun after hearing her daughter predict his future cruelty; he nevertheless escorts both mother and daughter home when they become lost 19.
- Ling Feng — Loyal attendant who objects to Jun’s humiliation. Later recognizes his unusual interest in Tangtang and suggests that their portrait resembles a couple’s picture 14 19 42.
- Jin Yun — Subordinate reprimanded for attempting to kill Tangtang. Jun later punishes him with three days and nights of military drills after he enthusiastically agrees that the portrait makes Jun and Tangtang look like siblings 35 42.
- Eunuch Wang — Hostile palace official who insults Jun and participates in attempts to humiliate him 5 19.
- Ye Linmo — Predicted future general who will help Jun overthrow Northern Li; this alliance has not yet formed in the documented events 9.
