Qingyuan Material Plane.
Sean, who had been meditating in seclusion on the grass, suddenly opened his eyes.
Boom—
The Laws of the World descended.
Several imperial descendants in the distance were stunned as they looked toward their father's palace. Their father's divine clones were already all Highgods, so why were the Laws of the World descending again?
But at this moment, none of them dared to disturb him.
After a while, the Laws of the World receded.
Feeling his newfound control over the surroundings, Sean was overjoyed.
"Sure enough, once the fused Profound Mysteries of the Life and Death Rule reach the Paragon level, both divine clones receive a reward of Willpower."
Just like in the original story, when Linley finally comprehended the fusion of four different Profound Mysteries, all four of his divine clones gained two portions of Willpower, his Life and Death Highgod clones now both possessed Willpower as well.
In other words, he had two "Paragon" divine clones.
"Father? What just happened?" Tuoya came to the edge of the grass and bowed as he asked.
Sean smiled at this descendant whom he thought most highly of. "I made a breakthrough. You needn't ask about it. Go do what you should be doing."
"Yes, Father." Tuoya quickly withdrew.
With a casual swipe of Sean's hand, a huge rift appeared beside him, filled with vast amounts of multicolored Space Turbulence.
The rift, which should normally have healed swiftly, was suppressed by a force of will and remained open.
"So this is Space Turbulence!" Ignoring the rift's suction, Sean stood beside it and watched.
In the past, even a peak Asura would not have dared approach so closely, since the slightest carelessness could get one sucked inside.
"Unfortunately, I still can't go in."
With a thought, the spatial rift closed.
Plane Battlefield:
With a thought from Sean, the Sovereign's Might that had constantly been emanating from him was instantly drawn back into his body.
Previously, even with his Three-element Soul Mutation, controlling Sovereign's Might had felt like a child wielding a broadsword. Now, however, it was effortless. He directly confined the Sovereign's Might within his body, without letting even a trace leak out.
A single drop of Sovereign's Might could remain unused until billions of years later; that was no problem at all.
Magnus's expression changed drastically. He had just sensed Willpower. There was only one explanation for that.
"Congratulations, Sean. I didn't expect to witness the birth of a Paragon today—and one of the Death Rule at that."
No matter how arrogant he had been before, upon encountering a Paragon of the same level, he could only treat him as an equal. Every Paragon stood at the pinnacle of gods. The birth of each one was the greatest rumor across the Four Supreme Planes and Seven God Planes.
The others present had not been entirely certain at first, but Magnus's words made them erupt. They had actually witnessed the birth of a Paragon between heaven and earth. Such an incredibly rare event had happened right before their eyes.
Audebeu stared in disbelief. Although the Death Sovereign had previously said that Sean was only one step away from becoming a Paragon, there were quite a few people like that in the God Planes. He had never expected his friend to actually become a Paragon.
Leis Jing was equally excited, laughing heartily with joy. Not only was he friends with this newly ascended Paragon, he was also his savior. From now on, everyone would know of his connection to a Paragon. Who would dare bully him? Things Sovereigns would not do had no such restrictions on Paragons.
On the Bright God Plane's side, the Augusta Family members' expressions changed dramatically. Wuman's face turned livid, and then a figure vanished.
Benfield and his two siblings, who were also nearby, were dumbfounded. The woman in red stammered, "Big Brother?"
Benfield looked at his second sister and third brother before finally saying, "After the Plane War ends, we'll go hide in a Material Plane for a while. Keep a low profile."
Sean glanced around. His breakthrough to "Paragon" was likely the first since the beginning of the world, but it was not something he could control. A breakthrough between life and death—without it, he would have died.
Sean looked at Magnus again. "Magnus, this battle is a war between the Netherworld and the Light God Realm. You are from the Heavenly Realm. This has nothing to do with you."
"Which God Plane I, Magnus, represent is up to me," Magnus said calmly.
Although rumors in the God Planes often spoke of a certain expert belonging to a certain plane, travel between planes was completely free. One could go wherever one wished, including the Plane Battlefield. Sovereigns generally would not interfere, unless one happened to be an emissary of a Sovereign from that particular line; naturally, then one could not go to the opposing side.
More importantly, if he retreated just because Sean had become a Paragon, would he not lose all face in the God Planes?
Sean said coldly, "This is my Netherworld battlefield. Naturally, I will not retreat either."
Under normal circumstances, if the two encountered one another, it would have been fine not to fight. But they were now on the Plane Battlefield. Whoever retreated might become a laughingstock in the God Planes, especially with the Death Sovereign's demands behind them.
"Good. There should not yet have been a Paragon of the Death Rule born in this world. I too want to see whether the Death Rule or the Fate Rule is stronger."
Before Magnus's voice faded, vast amounts of Destiny Lord God Power around him formed a lotus several meters wide under the restraint of Willpower. It enveloped him, looking exquisitely beautiful, while its dazzling soul power made the nearby Commanders tremble.
"All style and no substance." Sean smiled faintly. Then countless gray daggers formed around him, each made of soul power.
"Let's see whose Soul Attack is stronger."
Magnus snorted coldly and pushed both hands forward. The lotus spun rapidly and shot toward Sean like a bolt of lightning.
Sean remained floating motionlessly in the air as the daggers around him charged at the lotus like wild horses breaking free of their reins.
Boom— The black daggers struck the lotus's surface, and it immediately dissolved at high speed like a meteor plunging into the sea.
Before it could reach Sean, it vanished completely.
"Mangus, you gain no advantage in Soul Attacks," Sean said with a faint smile.
This exchange also confirmed for him that the Willpower bestowed by the Laws of the World upon his "different-Profound-Mysteries Paragon" was the same as that of an ordinary single-element Paragon.
As for the Profound Mysteries themselves, Life and Death were in no way inferior to the Fate Rule in their achievements regarding the soul; they merely specialized in different directions.
As for soul power, although his Three-element Soul Mutation gave him a hundred times his opponent's strength, both sides were using Sovereign's Might. At this time, the advantage of Soul Mutation was instead overridden. Unless he exhausted his opponent's Sovereign's Might, he would possess an absolute advantage.
"Hmph. Then let's try material attacks."
A Destiny attribute long whip appeared in Magnus's hand. It was roughly ten meters long, and merely waving in the wind easily tore apart the surrounding space.
"Material attacks?" Sean looked utterly baffled. Didn't Magnus know he had a Material Defense Lord God Artifact?
