Poem of Rainbow Light

Curious, he immediately began examining the Mansion Spell scroll.

He inspected it from every angle.

He discovered that the patterns on the scroll's surface seemed rather strange. If those designs were turned upside down... they seemed to form some unusual writing.

The writing was hidden among the scroll's exquisite, extravagant, and utterly impractical decorations, blending in perfectly.

That was precisely why no one had discovered it.

Wait, this writing... I think I learned it before. The original owner's grandfather taught it to him!

A quick look left him startled and uncertain.

After a moment's consideration, he calmed himself and began slowly sorting through the patterns.

It took him a full two hours to finally extract all the tiny characters.

Once he had collected them all, however, he discovered that they seemed to form a poem praising the sun-or, more specifically, the seven colors into which sunlight could be separated.

It began with red and ended with violet.

The poem was astonishingly long, containing over seven hundred characters.

Its name was...

Kroya frowned. "Poem of Rainbow Light? No, rainbow colors..."

"So these seven colors and sunlight are actually the same concept? They can be called either rainbow light or rainbow colors."

He studied it carefully, only to grow even more astonished.

The arrangement of the words in this poem actually constituted a spell-a special form of musical magic that even included instructions for meditation.

It was both light and seven colors.

The first section alone was a special meditation method!

He could not yet make out the remaining sections.

Judging by the complexity of this meditation method alone, it was probably countless times more powerful than the one he currently possessed.

He hesitated.

The poem was extremely strange, but if he could truly learn it, the improvement it offered would undoubtedly be tremendous.

Now that he was isolated on an island far out at sea, he needed enough strength to keep things under control.

Honestly, the stronger he became, the more he could accomplish. He could even apply for support and resources from the Mage Association in the Royal Capital.

Besides, the original owner's grandfather had left this to him, so there probably was not anything wrong with it.

The only strange thing was that the few surviving fragments of the original owner's memories merely indicated that his grandfather had apparently been a bard.

But... he had been a bard who never knew where his next meal was coming from.

How could he have left behind such advanced magic and such a special meditation method?

And written in such unusual, magic-filled characters, no less.

Kroya paced around the room, thinking.

After pondering for quite a while, he simply gritted his teeth, sat down on the bed, and began meditating. The opportunity was right in front of him; he would be a fool not to learn it.

Building up his strength was crucial!

"I'll learn it first and worry about the rest later!"

Meditation required absolute mental focus, as well as capturing magical particles from the surrounding air, so a good meditation method could make an enormous difference.

The speed at which it captured magical particles alone could be several times that of an ordinary person.

Originally, Kroya had only learned the commonplace "Elementary Meditation Method" distributed by the Mage Association.

But now that he had switched to "Song of Red," the first section of "Poem of Rainbow Light," he immediately felt the difference.

Under the pull of his consciousness, the surrounding magical particles trembled slightly, actually producing strange yet extraordinarily clear musical notes.

"Ding, ding, ding~~~"

Accompanied by the music that rang out of thin air, he absorbed every wisp of red magical particles within the sunlight.

They obediently entered his magic vortex and began circulating.

Judging by the rate at which the magic flowed in, it was astonishingly fast-at least twenty times faster than his original meditation method.

Yet Kroya knew this was not the limit.

With his current abilities, he could barely decipher the casting gestures and rune arrangements within Song of Red. The other six colors remained completely beyond his reach.

But red alone was twenty times faster than before... what if he mastered the entire "Poem of Rainbow Light"?

The joy nearly jolted him out of his meditative state.

Fortunately, he immediately restrained his delight and excitement, soon immersing himself in the pleasure of meditation and gathering red particles.

The sensation of magic filling his body was indescribably wonderful.

Even his mental energy rapidly recovered within the sunlight's warmth, which felt like warm water. He even had the feeling that if the sunlight never faded, he could probably keep meditating like this forever.

But the sun had to set eventually.

Kroya had arrived on his Reef Island at noon and begun meditating after lunch. He continued until the sun sank below the western horizon, only opening his eyes once it had vanished completely.

The clear musical notes surrounding him also disappeared.

A gleam of red magical light flashed through his eyes.

"One day is worth twenty days of meditation before... tsk. If I'd gotten this earlier, wouldn't I already be a Second-Level Mage, or even a Third-Level Mage?"

Kroya sighed in amazement.

By now, the red magic within his magic vortex was especially abundant. Perhaps another ten-odd days of meditation would allow him to condense a second magic vortex and advance to a Second-Level Mage.

Once he became a Second-Level Mage, he could attempt to cast the power of Song of Red as a spell. Who knew what tremendous power this miraculous poem would reveal then?

He stood up, feeling extraordinarily comfortable in both mind and body, refreshed as though he had enjoyed a good night's sleep.

It seemed this meditation could replace sleep entirely.

If he had possessed this ability before, he would have outworked everyone and made it by now.

The only pity was that this ability required sunlight. Apparently, he would have to find time to meditate during the day and stay up at night from now on. If only he had a meditation method that absorbed magic from moonlight.

In this world, moonlight was not reflected sunlight. The moon was a celestial body that emitted its own light.

Many magical methods and rituals required moonlight.

Kroya sighed, feeling that he really was insatiably greedy. Having acquired one method, he already wanted another.

Then he glanced at the clock on the wall.

"It's already seven?"

The time immediately gave him an uneasy feeling. He had shut himself away for the entire afternoon as soon as he arrived.

Was Rob, his steward, all right?

Having only just arrived here, he could not help feeling a little unsettled.

At that thought, he immediately lifted the magic formation's seal and strode out of his room.

Sure enough, he spotted the knight Joshua standing guard nearby. The man was still full of energy, but anxiety showed on his face.

"What happened?"

Kroya remained composed, using his walnut staff as a walking stick. He was the lord, the pillar of the entire territory. Everyone else could panic, but he could not.

When Joshua saw his lord emerge, he immediately breathed a sigh of relief and hurriedly said, "The shore! Something's happened at the shore!"

"What?"

Kroya's heart tightened. As he headed outside, he asked, "Is it a magical beast from the sea, a Sea Monster, or something else?"

If it really was a Sea Monster or a magical beast he could not handle, he might genuinely have to consider a strategic retreat. As long as he survived, he would have a chance to rebuild.

But am I really this unlucky? Running into trouble like this the moment I arrive?

The knight followed behind him and explained, "No. Neither Rob nor the rest of us know what it is, but Batos said it's the Sea God's Wrath. They're swallowing everything along the shore!"

"..."

Things were getting stranger and stranger. Now even the Sea God's Wrath had entered the picture.

But running away without taking a look was out of the question.

Kroya decided to investigate the situation before making any plans. Since Batos knew what it was, this must have happened before. Surely it would not cause too much damage?
