"Banxia, your luck is incredible!" Fu Ya offered the insincere compliment with a smile that looked worse than crying.
"Thanks for the compliment, Fu Ya. I must have borrowed some of your luck," Shen Banxia replied with a bright smile, pretending not to hear the bitterness in her voice.
"After this round, I'm done. I didn't bring enough money," Zhao Jie said, already panicking.
If Fu Ya agreed to cover his losses afterward, things would be fine. But if she turned her back on him, he would be finished.
"You can make a bank transfer, Zhao Jie. Who carries cash these days?" Shen Banxia said with a smile.
After two more rounds, Jiali and Zhao Jie slunk away, finding an excuse to make their escape.
If they kept gambling, they would not only lose everything but also end up buried in debt.
Even cheating hadn't been enough to beat a beginner's luck. It was downright freakish.
Fu Ya's expression darkened further. In less than two hours, she had already lost twenty million, not even counting the share belonging to those two jinxes, Jiali and Zhao Jie.
"Thank you, Fu Ya. Here's my account number. My brother said I could keep whatever I won." Shen Banxia had no intention of standing on ceremony. She pulled up her bank account details, turned her phone screen toward Fu Ya, and stared straight at her, waiting for the transfer.
Fu Ya glanced at Shen Lingyun, expecting him to put in a word for her and let the matter drop.
Instead, Shen Lingyun had been smiling the whole time, even praising his little sister's amazing skills. Fu Ya nearly coughed up blood from fury.
She could only grit her teeth and transfer the money to Shen Banxia.
It wasn't that she couldn't afford twenty million, but being able to afford it and losing it were two different things.
Besides, that was almost all the money in her bank account, and now she had lost it all to Shen Banxia.
"It's getting late, Fu Ya. I'll take you home," Shen Lingyun offered.
Fu Ya said she wanted to stay a little longer and told Shen Lingyun to take his sister home. They could meet another day.
[She was miserable right now and needed comfort from her lover next door. How could she possibly go home?]
Shen Lingyun asked with a smile,
"Are you sure you don't need me to take you home?"
"No, I'm not a three-year-old. Besides, you know I've always been independent! Just hurry up and take your seventh sister home!" Fu Ya said with a coy smile.
She was thinking that she would have to coax Shen Lingyun into giving her back the twenty million later, or her loss would be unbearable.
Shen Lingyun said nothing more. He turned to his seventh sister, who was counting cash with such delight that she was practically drooling, and said,
"Seventh Sister, we're heading home."
"Okay!" Shen Banxia answered, grinning from ear to ear.
She stuffed all the cash she had collected from Jiali and Zhao Jie into the backpack she had brought.
Shen Lingyun finally understood why his seventh sister had brought a backpack. At first, he had thought she intended to study while eating their late-night meal. Now he realized he had been overthinking it.
"Fu Ya, I'm heading home. Thank you for the present! I love it!"
"You're welcome!" Fu Ya forced out a smile even as her heart bled.
Shen Lingyun left with his seventh sister.
They got into the car, drove out of the restaurant parking lot, and circled the area before he suddenly said,
"I forgot something. I'll go in and get it. Seventh Sister, wait in the car!"
After saying that, Shen Lingyun switched off the engine, unbuckled his seat belt, got out, and walked into the restaurant.
There was no way Shen Banxia would obediently wait in the car. She slipped out after him, remembering to take her backpack, which held tens of thousands in cash.
As she followed him, she muttered,
"What did you leave behind, big brother?"
Shen Lingyun arrived at the Orchid Private Room, but Fu Ya was no longer inside.
He went to the private room next door and silently pushed open the door.
The sight of Fu Ya and Liu Ziyan locked in an embrace, kissing each other with abandon, instantly met his eyes.
Liu Ziyan had even slipped his hand inside Fu Ya's bra.
The shock of the scene made it seem almost unreal. Shen Lingyun did not charge straight in. Instead, with a terrifying calm, he took out his phone and quietly recorded them.
Then Fu Ya opened her eyes in her daze and happened to glance toward the door. Sensing something wrong, she took a closer look the next instant. Cold sweat broke out over her, and she shoved Liu Ziyan away in terror.
"Lingyun, let me explain. Ziyan was-" Fu Ya burst into aggrieved tears, as though she had been forced.
At first, Liu Ziyan, his head clouded by lust, was annoyed at being abruptly pushed away. But when he turned and saw Shen Lingyun standing in the doorway, he trembled with fear, not even noticing that Fu Ya had thrown him under the bus.
"I'm listening. Why did you stop?" Shen Lingyun asked expressionlessly.
Fu Ya hurried to her feet and ran toward the door, intending to fling herself into Shen Lingyun's arms for comfort, only for him to step aside.
"Miss Fu, have some self-respect!"
"Lingyun, let me explain!"
"Fu Ya, you forgot to button up your clothes!" Shen Banxia suddenly appeared and helpfully reminded her.
Fu Ya looked down and hurriedly pulled her clothes around herself, her face deathly pale.
"Miss Fu, you may continue your explanation now," Shen Lingyun said expressionlessly.
He wanted to hear what excuses she would invent for herself.
"Lingyun, I..." Under Shen Lingyun's stare, Fu Ya could no longer get a word out.
"Lingyun, this is just a misunderstanding-Aaargh!" Liu Ziyan scrambled out, still trying to defend himself, only for Shen Lingyun to knock him to the floor with a punch.
"Forget my woman. You're not even worthy of coveting my belongings!" Shen Lingyun planted a foot on Liu Ziyan's chest and snarled.
Shen Banxia was so excited that she nearly clapped and cheered. Seeing people heading over to watch the commotion, she hurried forward and pulled her big brother away.
"Big brother, we're in the right. What do we have to fear? Let's call the police!"
"You can't call the police!" Fu Ya panicked and lunged over, trying to grab Shen Banxia and stop her from making the call.
"Fu Ya, don't grab my phone! Don't hit me!" Shen Banxia cried in alarm.
As soon as she finished speaking, Fu Ya's expression changed drastically. Her whole body convulsed before she collapsed to the floor.
"Fu Ya, I told you not to hit me!" Shen Banxia crouched down and protested with an aggrieved expression.
Fu Ya had been shocked so badly that she couldn't speak.
Liu Ziyan had climbed to his feet by then. With so many people watching, he wanted to salvage some dignity and tried to attack Shen Lingyun from behind.
"Big brother, watch out!"
With an easy movement that looked accidental, Shen Banxia gave Liu Ziyan a shock as well.
Liu Ziyan howled again in pain, his eyes rolling back.
"Big brother, let's hurry and leave. Otherwise, they'll bully us again."
With that, Shen Banxia grabbed Shen Lingyun and ran.
The police would be there soon, and some people had already taken out their phones to record videos. They couldn't afford that embarrassment.
The two got into the car, drove some distance away, then stopped and suddenly burst out laughing.
"Seventh Sister, when did you get that stun baton ready?"
"I always keep it in my backpack. I never expected it to come in handy today." Shen Banxia proudly displayed the stun baton. "Big brother, I did great today, didn't I?"
"You did! You're your big brother's pride and joy!" Shen Lingyun felt incredibly fortunate to have a sister like her.
"Big brother, don't be sad. Finding out today was better than finding out after you got married.
"If you still feel really upset, I'll give you half the money I won today!" Shen Banxia did her best to comfort him.
Aside from sharing the money, she couldn't think of a better way to comfort her big brother.
