"Sorry, I must have the wrong room." When Fu Ya entered the private room and saw an unfamiliar girl, she thought she had walked into the wrong one.
"You're in the right place. I'm Lingyun's younger sister, Shen Banxia. My brother went to the restroom. He'll be back soon," Shen Banxia introduced herself with a bright smile.
"Lingyun's younger sister?" Fu Ya visibly froze, her expression souring.
She hadn't expected Shen Lingyun to bring his sister along. She had specifically told him she had a surprise for him tonight, yet he had brought his sister!
What was that supposed to mean?
"Yes, I'm his biological sister. My brother wasn't planning to bring me, but I insisted on coming to meet my future sister-in-law. You don't mind, do you, Fu Ya?" Shen Banxia asked with calculated sweetness.
She had cut off any chance for Fu Ya to lose her temper.
"Of course not! Order whatever you want. Dinner's on me tonight, so don't be shy!"
With things put that way, Fu Ya couldn't make a scene. She could only suppress her anger, sit down, and reply with a gentle smile.
"Then I won't stand on ceremony with my future sister-in-law!" Shen Banxia nodded excitedly and began ordering without restraint.
She ordered anything expensive and anything she had never tried before.
Only then did Shen Lingyun knock and enter the private room. Fu Ya rose and chided him,
"You called to tell me you were here, but you ended up arriving after me."
"I went to the restroom, then took a call. It held me up for a bit," Shen Lingyun replied, betraying nothing.
If Fu Ya hadn't come out of that private room, and if he hadn't just seen Liu Ziyan holding her around the waist, reluctant to let go, he could have found plenty of excuses for her.
But now he couldn't even convince himself. He wasn't blind, after all!
"Big Brother, Fu Ya said dinner's on her tonight and told me not to be shy. I'm ordering!" Shen Banxia said.
"No need to be shy with your future sister-in-law. Order whatever you want," Shen Lingyun replied with a smile that didn't reach his eyes.
"Oh, stop!" Fu Ya protested coyly. She glanced at Shen Banxia, who was getting in the way, and felt utterly frustrated, but she still forced a smile.
Shen Banxia really didn't hold back with Fu Ya. Truffles, caviar, Australian Lobster, and more-whether she had tried them before or whether they tasted good no longer mattered. The price was the point.
She had to make Fu Ya bleed money today.
Although this amount was nothing to a wealthy heiress, it was better than nothing.
While they waited for the food, Fu Ya chatted with Shen Lingyun about international affairs before moving on to the LP Project.
"When will the first installment of funding be ready? Everything's prepared over there. Construction can start as soon as the money arrives."
"Once my mom approves it, the Finance Department can transfer the funds."
"You'd better hurry. Plenty of people have their eyes on that lucrative opportunity," Fu Ya replied with a charming smile.
It certainly is a lucrative opportunity for the Fu family-all profit without putting up a cent. But for the Shen Family, it's like being a fish on someone else's chopping block!
"I know," Shen Lingyun replied after a pause.
The dishes Shen Banxia had ordered arrived one after another. She tasted a bite of each and began to feel disappointed. Apart from being expensive, none of them tasted particularly good!
"Banxia, is the food here not to your liking?" Fu Ya asked gently.
"The presentation's pretty, but the taste is just average. It's not even as good as the banquet food in our village!" Shen Banxia sighed softly.
The corner of Fu Ya's mouth twitched. A country bumpkin wouldn't know fine food if it hit her in the face. Still, she smiled and said,
"That's all right. Order something else. You might find something you like."
"Fu Ya, you and my brother can keep talking. Don't worry about me. I can entertain myself. It's fine," Shen Banxia replied with a cheerful smile.
She looked perfectly sweet and well-behaved.
Fu Ya nodded, thinking that this newly reclaimed daughter of the Shen Family looked no different from a village girl. She was backward and tacky, nowhere near Xu Mingyue's level. Fu Ya had no idea what Shen Shuyi was so hung up on that she had insisted on bringing her back.
But the Shen Family's affairs had nothing to do with her. All she wanted was their money anyway.
After taking a phone call, Fu Ya told Shen Lingyun excitedly,
"My best friend Jiali and her boyfriend happen to be nearby. They wanted to have dinner with me, so I told them to come join us. You don't mind, do you?"
"No objection here."
"Banxia, another young lady and her boyfriend will be joining us for dinner in a bit!"
"The more, the merrier!" Shen Banxia replied with a smile.
Here come Fu Ya's accomplices. At least eating all this awful food and sitting around waiting wasn't for nothing.
Sure enough, after Jiali and Zhao Jie arrived and had something to eat, they suggested,
They hadn't played Mahjong in ages, and since there was a Mahjong table here, why not play a few rounds?
Fu Ya agreed without hesitation, as though she loved playing Mahjong, then coaxed Shen Lingyun into joining them for a few rounds. Otherwise, they would be one player short.
Shen Lingyun agreed. He wanted to see just how Fu Ya intended to set him up.
If all she planned to do was cheat him out of his money with such a low-down trick,
Then Fu Ya had underestimated him, and he had overestimated her.
Shen Lingyun won almost every one of the first few rounds. They were baiting the hook to land a bigger fish.
Then Lingyun lost two rounds in a row. By now, he had seen through their routine: Fu Ya provided cover while Zhao Jie and Jiali took turns winning.
Just as Shen Lingyun was about to set a trap in the next round and catch them red-handed,
Shen Banxia suddenly raised her hand and asked,
"Big Brother, can I play?"
"Do you like Mahjong?"
"I've never played, but watching you looks fun. I want to try too."
"Sure, take my seat. Anything you win is yours, and any losses are on me," Shen Lingyun said gently, ruffling his Seventh Sister's hair. Then he turned to the others. "You don't mind, do you?"
"It would be an honor to play Mahjong with the Seventh Young Miss of the Shen Family!"
"Exactly!"
A complete beginner who had never played before would be even easier to fleece. Naturally, they couldn't have asked for more.
"Banxia, have you really never played Mahjong before?" Fu Ya asked with a smile as she shuffled the tiles.
"No. Please don't mind if I play badly," Shen Banxia replied, shaking her head.
"Not at all, not at all. We're just playing a few hands for fun. Enjoy yourself, and don't be nervous." Zhao Jie would later regret saying that.
As though she had been given a beginner's welcome package, Banxia won almost every hand, and even pulled off an extraordinary hand at the end.
Jiali's expression immediately soured, and she stole a glance at Fu Ya. Fu Ya hadn't expected Shen Banxia to be so lucky either.
In just an hour, she had already lost several million. If Shen Banxia won a few more hands, her losses would reach ten million.
At the start, they had proposed 88,888 per fan, claiming it was just for fun. In reality, they had intended to bleed Shen Lingyun dry.
Who could have imagined Shen Banxia would turn up out of nowhere and be this lucky? Winning several hands in a row was bad enough,
But in the final hand, she pulled off Big Four Winds + Half Flush + All Pungs + Flower Replacement Kong, a full-limit hand worth 104 fan.
Fu Ya lost nearly ten million in one go. Now she was the one being bled dry.
Suddenly, she could no longer sit still.
