On his second day back, Koichi had plenty of free time.
He had finished everything he needed to do and had nothing else on his plate.
So he spent the rest of the day beside Megumi Mitsumori, watching her train the racehorses.
If he ever wanted to retire, perhaps he could switch careers and become a trainer.
As for when he would retire, that was entirely up to him. There was nothing unusual about retiring at any point.

"You really have time on your hands, huh? You even have time to watch me work."
Megumi glanced at him.
Morning training started very early, yet Koichi had actually chosen not to sleep in.
"I got plenty of rest yesterday, so I have a bit of extra energy today. Besides, I can pick up a few tricks while I'm here. Then I could switch careers and become a trainer someday."

Once he got older and his stamina declined, maintaining a high level of performance would certainly become difficult.
"Sure. Come work as an assistant at my stable someday, and I'll show you the ropes."
Naturally, Megumi took the opportunity to tease him.
Honestly, she had never really noticed any interest in training on Koichi's part. He had probably only come over because he had nothing else to do.
