Kaguya recounted her past with Aiki and Ryūshiki, while Naruto reshaped the shinobi world and prepared for a new tournament. Ten years later, Hitomi trained to compete as Momoshiki and Kinshiki set out for Mitsuki Country under false pretenses.

• Kaguya told Naruto how Aiki raised her, how she refused the ritual that demanded Aiki’s death, and how Ryūshiki trained her before she betrayed Isshiki and hid Mitsuki Country.
• Naruto offered to train Kaguya and later negotiated with Amado, then won the Daimyo’s support for preparing against the Ōtsutsuki threat.
• Asura spread warnings and Ninshu in Amegakure, while Amamiya Ruri took control of the Land of Rain and began organizing its people under the Ninja King.
• Naruto proposed Combat Advisors, a Shinobi Grand Tournament, and new ninja ranks, then assigned the advisors before the story jumped ahead ten years.
• Naruto trained Hitomi for the tournament, teaching him Purple Electricity and giving him a sustainable Elixir and his Book of God to prepare for the competition.
• Momoshiki and Kinshiki learned about Mitsuki Country from Toneri and set out to seize Kaguya’s legacy, while Urashiki revealed he had misled them and an unseen eye watched.

The Shinobi Grand Tournament tested Hitomi and his allies before the contestants reached the arena, where family ties and powerful rivalries came to the fore. The tournament was interrupted when Momoshiki and Kinshiki appeared for real, leaving Hitomi to face them as Naruto mobilized the others.

• Naruto and the tournament organizers launched the Shinobi Grand Tournament, and Hitomi, Sarada, and Mitsuki passed the written exam before entering the poisoned island battle royale.
• Hitomi teamed up with Sarada and Mitsuki, survived attacks from rival contestants and Deidara, and refused Shikadai’s plan to use a hidden bomb to win.
• The trio reached the final safe zone, and Naruto explained that the arena champion could challenge a Heaven Shinobi for Instant Ascension.
• Sarada fought Tōjin Uzumaki despite her fever, awakened her Two-Tomoe Sharingan, and learned from Sakura that Sasuke was her father before Hitomi defeated her and Sasuke promised to stay by her side.
• Konohamaru defeated Ōnoki, Rock Lee and Kimimaro ended their fierce fight without a winner, and Temari and Tenten both lost after unleashing their strongest techniques.
• Mitsuki fought Hanabi, who defeated him with her Tenseigan before withdrawing and asking him to be a good companion to Hitomi.
• After Naruto and Kaguya staged a false Ōtsutsuki attack, Momoshiki and Kinshiki appeared for real, and Hitomi blocked them while Naruto, Sasuke, and Hashirama prepared to respond.
• Naruto summoned the Netherworld gate after Madara disappeared, ordered Hinata to capture Momoshiki and Kinshiki, and Hitomi attacked Kinshiki with Flying Thunder God: Pursuing Wind Purple Lightning.

Naruto and his allies fought their way through the Netherworld, defeated Konra and Tōra, and negotiated Madara’s release at the cost of Sasuke becoming a Tree Hunter. Back in the living world, Suigetsu won the tournament and Naruto fed Kinshiki and Urashiki to the Ten-Tails, which grew into a God Tree.

• Hitomi awakened his Mangekyō Sharingan and used Ayekashi against Momoshiki before Kakashi and the Kage pursued Kinshiki and Momoshiki into the Other Dimension.
• The Five Kage subdued Kinshiki, while Minato, Hinata, and Neji captured Urashiki on the moon and Naruto and his companions began their journey through the Netherworld.
• Naruto and his companions defeated Konra and Tōra, then met Iwarebiko, who said Madara’s resurrection required a sacrifice and that someone must serve the Netherworld.
• The Lord of the Land of Yomi chose Sasuke as a Tree Hunter, and Naruto negotiated Madara’s release and a week for Sasuke to settle his affairs before reporting for duty.
• The Lord freed Madara and sent Naruto, Sasuke, Obito, and Hashirama back to the living world, ordering Sasuke to return in seven days.
• Suigetsu became the tournament champion after an accident knocked out Konohamaru, then challenged Kakashi and took his Heaven Shinobi rank.
• Naruto implanted Kinshiki’s Rinnegan in his hands and brought Kinshiki and Urashiki to the Ten-Tails, which devoured them and transformed into a God Tree.
• Naruto left a Shadow Clone to attend the tournament with Obito while his real body stayed behind to secure the developing Chakra Fruit.

The Heaven Shinobi Challenge brought a series of challengers against the tournament’s top fighters before Might Guy’s concession ended the ninth Shinobi Grand Tournament. In the Samsara Grotto, Naruto harvested the God Tree Chakra Fruit, but Ōtsutsuki Ryūshiki stole it and revealed how Naruto had returned from the future.

• Guoshang, Tobi, Konan, Hiashi, Hiruzen, A-Juan, Kakuzu, Mito, and Might Guy challenged Heaven Shinobi, with Tobirama, Sasuke, Hinata, Neji, Minato, Obito, Hashirama, Madara, and Naruto defending their positions.
• Hinata defeated Konan after their battle exhausted them both, and Konan accepted Hinata’s invitation to become Hitomi and Himawari’s godmother.
• Neji defeated Hiashi, whose Sage Byakugan and new taijutsu let him fight until his five minutes of Izanagi ended.
• A-Juan defeated Obito in a sumo match, Kakuzu lost to Hashirama, and Madara defeated Mito before Obito reversed time to restore her.
• Might Guy challenged Naruto and conceded after Naruto’s Shadow Clone defeated his Night Guy: Eight Trigrams Formation, ending the ninth Shinobi Grand Tournament.
• Naruto’s real body harvested the mature God Tree Chakra Fruit, but Ryūshiki ambushed him, took it, and made Naruto choose between the fruit and Kaguya.
• Ryūshiki explained that he had kept Naruto’s return from the future secret and that the Pear had sent Naruto’s future existence as data into his younger self.
• Ryūshiki said he had seven days left to live, warned that the fruit might be divine grade, and began explaining its curse as he formed hundreds of millions of Truth-Seeking Orbs.
