"What the hell was that?"
Wu Jinliang lifted his saber, pushed aside a heap of debris, and crawled out. He cried out at the spot where the figures had vanished, then looked around. The blast had scoured a vast stretch of ground bare, and the spatial opening the monsters had crawled through was gone too.
Shi Chun flashed through several positions, found Bian Weiying, whose serious injuries had yet to heal, and pulled her over to Wu Jinliang. "Why waste time talking? The place is clear-let's leave now! Or do you want to wait until those monsters recover and drag us back into that pitch-black place?"
The thought of that place, where having open eyes was no better than being blind, sent a chill through Wu Jinliang. He hurriedly raised the Wind Scales he had kept tightly clutched in his hand and examined them.
This was his first time using them. He had no idea how they worked, so he naturally needed to figure them out.
Shi Chun glanced around. He could not afford to wait. He simply reached out, snatched the Wind Scales, and channeled his power to control them. Countless scales instantly flew out, swept up the three of them, and rapidly lifted them into the sky. They accelerated, becoming an arcing streak that flashed away.
Looking down at the vast, mist-shrouded forests beneath their feet, all three saw the Moon Sea from above for the first time.
They did not go far. As soon as they left the Moon Sea, they found a mountainside and landed at its foot. The countless scales all clattered back together.
Only then did they exchange glances and breathe sighs of relief, as though waking from a dream. They had finally escaped that accursed place.
But their eyes soon turned toward the
