When Chu Mo left the palace avenue and returned to the barracks, the ghosts were still buzzing with discussion. Seeing him return, several ghost guards he knew gathered around him and clamored, "Dalang, did Commander Zhao tell you anything?"
"Yes, yes! Does His Eminence really not keep the Death Gate Seal on him all the time?"
Chu Mo shook his head and said dejectedly, "Commander Zhao kept his lips sealed. He scolded me a little and sent me back."
The ghosts immediately deflated. After a few grumbles, they scattered.
Chu Mo found a corner and sat down, pretending to settle his soul and nourish his spirit, while his thoughts raced.
Afraid Xi Sang would notice, he had left Commander Zhao's fate untouched, merely nudging him with a few minor tricks from the Immortal Garden.
Besides, the commander was hardly someone who could keep things to himself, so he had revealed quite a bit.
Xi Sang occasionally puts the Ink Seal in the Spirit Treasure Hall, apparently nurturing it through some sort of ritual ceremony. But the hall has restrictions in place. Without permission, no one can enter.
Chu Mo pondered inwardly. The restrictions themselves were not the main concern.
With [Treading Yin to Turn Yang], trying his luck was not out of the question. After all, powerful though a Taboo was, it was not a true Nascent Soul Cultivator and did not understand truly profound restrictions and formations.
What worried him was that Xi Sang usually remained in the palace when the seal was not on his person. Pulling something under a Taboo's very nose was no easy task.
I only have one chance. If I slip up and alert Xi Sang, I'll probably never have another shot at obtaining [Death Sentence].
He had to think everything through and devise
