Most of the time, people did not know they were dreaming. No matter how absurd everything in a dream might be, their brains automatically filled in all sorts of plausible explanations, even hazy memories of another life.
So all Taylor felt at that moment was intense fear. He had no idea where he was, much less what sort of being had appeared before him.
"Who are you? Where am I?"
The giant who had appeared in Taylor's dream was, of course, Mulan. Having discovered that he really had managed to manifest in Taylor's dream, Mulan was also caught up in the novelty of it.
Mulan did not answer Taylor immediately. He looked at the mist around them, then up at the overcast sky. The distance seemed fractured and dim, and the ground shook from time to time.
In this pure dream, all these elements were manifestations of Taylor's own mental state.
Taylor watched the giant of black-and-white chaos. He seemed to be examining their surroundings, but soon lowered his head. Only then did Taylor see his eyes clearly. They were as deep as dark, rolling waves, with red mist and lightning seemingly brewing in their depths.
"Mr. Taylor, first, let me assure you that you have not been kidnapped, nor are you in danger. The crisis outside has nothing to do with this place. This is a dream. Your dream, and mine."
A dream?
Taylor froze for a moment. Once it had been pointed out that he was dreaming, some of his memories and thoughts within the dream began to reconnect with reality. At the same time, he began to sense a faint unreality in his surroundings.
"Who are you? Why are our dreams connected?"
The towering giant fell silent. Only after a moment did he speak in a slow,
