Barn returned to the sea, formed bonds with the boys of Goa, and struck back after Sabo was taken from them. As the World Government put a vast bounty on him, he built alliances and joined Dragon to pursue revolution in the New World.

  • Kazaan seized control of Barn until a bald swordsman and the Golden Lion stopped him, and Barn later trained Jig before returning to Sabaody with Ayusa and his reforged sword.

Arc 5Barn Returns to the Sea

Barn survived Kazaan’s possession, took Saipan Island and trained Jig before returning to Sabaody with a reforged sword and a new mermaid companion. He later brought Jig to the Goa Kingdom, where Luffy joined Ace and Sabo’s orbit as the boys’ hidden treasure drew the attention of the Bluejam Pirates.

  • Barn awakened Conqueror’s Haki against Capulias, but Kazaan took control of Barn’s body and attacked Capulias until a bald swordsman intervened.
  • The bald swordsman and the Golden Lion fought Kazaan, and the Golden Lion carried Saipan Island away while the swordsman warned him to tell Barn he wanted to see what Barn would do.
  • Barn met Jig, helped him control the ghosts and gods bound to his left hand, and used Kazaan’s power to carve a vast glacier before five years passed.
  • Barn left the island with Jig, rescued Ayusa while fishing on Laboon, and returned to Sabaody, where Lia gave him his reforged sword, First-Generation Onikiri.

Arc 6Brothers and Revolution

Ace, Sabo, Luffy, and Jig formed a brotherhood, but Sabo was forced away and the Goa Kingdom’s plan to burn Garbage Mountain trapped the others in a fire. After Sabo was shot by a Celestial Dragon and lost his memories, Barn joined forces with Dragon and struck back at Goa’s rulers, leaving Dragon’s revolution poised to begin.

  • Ace and Sabo rescued Luffy from Porchemy, and Jig helped them defeat the pirate before the boys made a home together at Dadan’s house.
  • Sabo revealed he was a nobleman’s son, and he, Ace, Luffy, and Jig swore to be brothers while Barn agreed to train them.
  • Sabo’s father forced him back to High Town, where Sabo learned the Royal Family planned to burn Garbage Mountain and warned its people.

Barn avenged Sabo by killing Saint Jalmack, then became a target of the World Government and rescued a Fish-Man from slavery. He defeated Gladius on Fish-Man Island, where Whitebeard claimed the island as his territory, then left for Sabaody with Doflamingo on his mind.

  • Barn killed Saint Jalmack and fought the Five Elders member sent to retrieve him, but Garp stopped him from finishing the wounded Elder.
  • Barn declared himself Barn D. Bashut and vowed to kill every Celestial Dragon he saw, then learned from Sabo’s letter that Sabo had entrusted Luffy to his brothers.
  • Jelforin demanded a Buster Call wherever Barn appeared, and the World Government offered ten billion Beli for Barn’s head.
  • Barn and Rayleigh attended the Sabaody Auction House, where Barn killed Saint Malshuk and freed the Fish-Man Yuna.

  • Barn traveled to Dressrosa, defeated Pica, and confronted Doflamingo about his slave trade and other businesses.
  • Doflamingo revealed that he was a former Celestial Dragon and offered Barn SMILE and an alliance, which Barn accepted while ordering Adam to have Leonard monitor him.
