Indra's expression darkened. Facing Uchiha Tajima, he could no longer remain calm.
A murderous aura radiated from Uchiha Tajima. All the humiliation he had suffered since birth had come from this unfilial son.
"Uchiha Natsu, whatever else you may be, Uchiha blood still runs through your veins."
"Oh?" Indra's chakra erupted, and his expression turned mocking. "Aren't you afraid I'll kill every one of your sons? Killing them would take no more than a flick of my finger."
Uchiha Tajima... could not be sure. He had never understood this son of his, but the strength he displayed now was a delightful surprise.
That pressure possessed only by the strong, that abundant chakra-even compared with Tajima himself, the clan head, he was no weaker.
Given a few more years, he would certainly provide an overwhelming advantage on the battlefield.
But then there was his temper: volatile, erratic, and vicious-tongued, just like that woman.
"Return to the clan compound, and you could become the next Uchiha Clan Head."
Uchiha Tajima made his promise. Had his son been a pure-blooded Uchiha, perhaps he would have been even stronger. Such talent. What a pity...
"Heh. You think I care?" Indra's current body was fourteen years old. In a few more years, he would go and wipe out all those descendants of Asura.
Hmph. If I waited for these useless fools, they couldn't even wipe out a clan properly.
"You may enter the Library in the Uchiha Ancestral Shrine whenever you wish."
Uchiha Tajima immediately raised his offer.
[Host, the petitioner wishes for Madara Uchiha to have a good ending. You still need to return to the Uchiha and become involved with him.]
Indra hesitated for a moment, then agreed.
"Fine."
Hearing that answer, Tajima breathed a sigh of relief. His recent clashes with the Senju had left him exhausted; he truly had no energy left to teach several children.
As for that boy Madara's temper, how should he put it?
Deep down, he was exactly like his eldest son: respectful on the surface, dismissive underneath. It was all for show.
No, his eldest son did not even bother with appearances. He practically wanted Tajima to kneel and call him Father.
"We'll return to the clan in half a month." Uchiha Tajima felt his injuries would heal completely in that time. To avoid complications from delaying too long, he settled the matter now. He could not fathom this unfilial son's temper at all.
Indra had not given him a pleasant look the entire time. Just as he stepped through the doorway, he suddenly stopped and asked, "Do you need me to arrange someone to attend to you?"
"No!" Cough, cough, cough... Uchiha Tajima nearly exploded. He shoved this unfilial descendant out and slammed the door shut with a bang.
A son arranging attendants for his father-what kind of nonsense was that? If word got out, how could Uchiha Tajima show his face again?
"Young master, is the clan head all right?"
When the terrified Uchiha Fuliu saw her young master emerge, she asked cautiously. What she really wanted to ask was whether the clan head was still alive. She feared her young master might take advantage of his helplessness and finish him off with a single slash.
Worn down by this father and son, she had learned to tread carefully, weigh her words, and keep both sides happy.
"He's fine. In half a month, I'll go to the Uchiha Clan Compound with that useless fool. From now on, send all intelligence directly to me. Don't keep sending it to the Uchiha."
"Is that appropriate?" Uchiha Fuliu was about to say more when her gaze met a pair of scarlet eyes bearing three tomoe. Every hair on her body stood on end, and all her words caught in her throat. "Yes, young master."
"Remember your place."
Indra left her with those cold words. He did not need anyone challenging his decisions.
He had no expectations whatsoever for his return to the Uchiha. The sight of those useless, unfilial descendants only irritated him.
He had never imagined his descendants would wipe out their own clan.
Returning to his room, he applied makeup to his face according to his memories, picked up a zither, and went to the main hall to begin gathering intelligence.
Asagiri Town was an enormous money pit, as well as a source of intelligence.
This was the place Uchiha Natsu's mother had left behind, and the place where Uchiha Tajima had been duped.
After Uchiha Natsu's mother died, he had lived here ever since.
Several Uchiha had been sent by Uchiha Tajima to look after him, while some of the ninja were death-sworn retainers left behind by Kaguya.
Now, all of them were loyal to Uchiha Natsu.
Once Uchiha Tajima's injuries had healed, he found Indra already prepared. He wore a pale purple yukata with a dark blue haori bearing the Uchiha Clan Crest draped casually over it, his hands tucked into his sleeves. He carried nothing.
"We're leaving for the clan compound immediately. Is there anything else you need to prepare?"
"No." Space Runes were inscribed on Indra's arm. He had stored everything he could take inside them, making them far more convenient and straightforward than a Space Scroll.
"You're wearing that?"
Uchiha Tajima was displeased. No Battle Armor, no Ninja Pack, not even a Ninja Sword. Did he consider himself a ninja at all?
"You have no right to question me."
Every word Indra spoke was a blatant provocation to Uchiha Tajima, yet there was nothing he could do about it.
Several days later.
Indra and Uchiha Tajima arrived at the Uchiha Clan Compound.
As they walked along the street, quite a few people cast appraising looks their way.
Indra ignored them outright, while Uchiha Tajima felt their stares prickling against his back. Convinced everyone was talking about him, he quickened his pace and returned to his residence.
Two children were training in the courtyard, while a slightly older child taught a younger one how to mold chakra.
Uchiha Tajima cleared his throat. The children all stopped what they were doing, ran over, and stood in a row, studying Indra curiously.
"Ahem. Madara, Hoshi, Tsuki, Izuna, this is your eldest brother, Xia."
"Big brother," the children called in unison.
With his hands tucked into his sleeves, Indra slowly opened his eyes. His gaze swept over them before finally settling on Madara Uchiha.
That outstanding descendant who had shown off too much and ended up with a hand thrust through his chest from behind. The faint, familiar chakra within him was Indra's own.
Infuriating!
"Indra. That's my name."
With that, he turned and left without sparing Uchiha Tajima so much as a glance.
He held every one of his unfilial descendants in equal contempt.
And little brothers were the most irritating of all.
Standing in the courtyard, Uchiha Tajima had his authority challenged-and his other four sons had witnessed the entire thing.
"What kind of attitude is that?"
Uchiha Tajima reached out to grab Indra. At the last possible instant, Indra blocked his hand with his forearm, gathered chakra, and struck him in the chest with his palm, sending him flying several meters.
The little children in the courtyard stared wide-eyed. Looking at Indra, they saw three tomoe spinning in his eyes and cried out in astonishment, "Three tomoe! Three tomoe, just like Father's!"
