"Father, I'm being serious!" Madara Uchiha frowned, his voice cold and his expression utterly solemn.
"Madara, so am I. Butsuma Senju is a normal man. He wouldn't do something this stupid, much less send his own son to seduce you. Anyone who gave it even a moment's thought would know it makes no sense."
Uchiha Tajima fixed his scarlet Sharingan on his son, trying to spot a crack in his story. What exactly was he hiding that made him so desperate to silence someone?
And he even wanted his father's help to do it.
"Father! This may be suspicious, but the Senju are experts at deceiving their opponents with their honest-looking faces and winning their trust. If my big brother hadn't analyzed it for me, I would have fallen for it."
The veins on Madara Uchiha's forehead throbbed painfully. He felt there was simply no communicating with his father.
"Forget it. You don't understand the Senju as well as my big brother does."
"Your big brother is involved too? Don't hide anything from me." Uchiha Tajima grew serious now. This was no longer something Madara could brush aside with a few words. If that unfilial son was involved, it couldn't be a small matter.
Madara Uchiha frowned, his expression grim. In the end, he decided to reveal a little so they could hurry up and deal with those two Senju.
"I leaked false information, saying you had a daughter too. My older sister-in other words, my big brother."
Uchiha Tajima's eyes nearly popped out. Between telling the truth and hiding it, his son had somehow chosen to screw over his father.
"Y-you said what? You said I had a daughter? And that she was that unfilial son?"
Uchiha Tajima lowered his voice, terrified that Indra might hear him. If that unfilial son learned that the Uchiha were spreading rumors that he was a woman, he would definitely hold his father responsible.
"Yes. We agreed to meet and each bring our sisters." Now that Madara Uchiha had said it, he wasn't afraid of his father tattling. Something that humiliating was beyond him.
Uchiha Tajima went over the events in his head and realized clearly that his unfilial son had led Madara astray-and beyond any hope of setting him straight.
Still, that was fine. Madara was talented, but too innocent. He lacked that unfilial son's ruthlessness, so learning from him would be good. At least it was a positive development.
Uchiha Tajima deactivated his Sharingan, an almost imperceptible smile appearing on his face. In an exceedingly solemn tone, he said, "Madara, you did very well. I hope you'll keep playing along with them to extract more information. As for your agreement to bring your sisters next time, go talk to your big brother!"
"He's taught you very well, and he'll help you. All right, it's late. Go back and get some rest!"
With that, Uchiha Tajima shooed Madara out of the study.
Madara Uchiha stared at the tightly shut study door, utterly bewildered.
What was going on?
Father wanted me to go to my big brother?
And have him dress as a woman?
Was he getting revenge for that kick earlier today?
Left with no choice, he shuffled back to his room furtively. His big brother was still reading, no different from usual.
Remembering his wager with the despicable Senju, he meekly knelt on the other side of the square table and picked up a book. But his mind kept wandering, and he stole glances at Indra from time to time.
He was genuinely afraid he would say it one second and be beaten to death the next.
Besides, he was too nervous right now to put his words together.
"If you can't concentrate, go to sleep."
Indra put down his book. With Madara Uchiha sneaking looks at him, he was in no mood to read. He was sensitive to other people's gazes.
"Big brother..." Madara Uchiha stammered, struggling to speak. He covered himself in a layer of chakra, made sure he was ready, and only then slowly began, "If I said... I ran into the despicable Senju, would you beat me to death?"
Already angry that Madara had gone to see the Senju instead of training at home, Indra narrowed his eyes. A chilling gleam seeped into them, and his low voice abruptly broke the silence.
"Go on!"
"Huh? Oh!" Madara Uchiha recounted everything from beginning to end. Unlike the perfunctory report he had given Uchiha Tajima, he didn't conceal so much as a punctuation mark from Indra.
"Big brother, could you... dress as a woman and go with me to the Naka River to meet those despicable, scheming Senju...?"
Indra's hand froze around his teacup. His scarlet Sharingan activated on its own, and his gaze settled on Madara Uchiha.
"Nii-san~" Seeing his big brother silently glaring at him with his Sharingan, Madara Uchiha involuntarily shifted backward.
"Heh. You've really grown bold, Madara. Now you think you can make arrangements for me without asking."
The corners of Indra's mouth rose slightly into a chilling, savage smile. Endless fury and murderous intent seemed to lurk beneath it.
A surging torrent of chakra suddenly erupted from his palm. As that immense power burst forth, the cup in his hand instantly crumbled into countless tiny particles of dust.
Then he slowly stood, his smile growing more ferocious with every step.
As Madara Uchiha watched Indra approach, cold sweat had already soaked his back, plastering his clothes against his skin.
Just as I thought. Ask my big brother to dress as a woman one second, get beaten to death the next.
Indra seized Madara Uchiha firmly by the scruff of his neck and said coldly, "Hmph. I just remembered how pathetically stiff your movements were during this morning's fight. Luckily, I have time now to loosen you up!"
Before he had finished speaking, he vanished from the room with Madara Uchiha.
Immediately afterward, agonized screams and the sharp cracks of breaking bones echoed through the courtyard, sounding especially piercing and horrifying in the still night.
For the entire night, Madara Uchiha lay sprawled on the ground like a lifeless lump of mud, staring blankly at the sky. He had gone completely numb.
He could no longer remember how many times he had been beaten to death. Whenever he had only one breath left, Indra made his horrific wounds heal at an incredible speed, then forced a Military Rations Pill down his throat to restore his stamina before continuing the beating.
The good news: he gained more experience in taijutsu and combat.
The bad news: he paid for it by dying countless times.
Indra lightly brushed nonexistent dust from his clothes and walked toward Madara Uchiha. Seeing the wretched state he was in, he reluctantly held out a hand.
When Madara gave no response, he started to withdraw it, only for it to be caught suddenly.
Madara Uchiha used his support to rise from the ground, but exhaustion left him unsteady, and he collapsed against Indra.
Although his physical injuries had healed, his mental exhaustion was not something a Military Rations Pill could restore.
With no other choice, Indra dragged Madara Uchiha back to their room.
He disdainfully tossed Madara Uchiha's dust-covered clothes by the door before laying him on the tatami.
Then he took a blanket from the cupboard and draped it over Madara Uchiha.
Afterward, Indra walked to the wardrobe, took out a pale purple kimono with a subtle woven pattern, and chose a silver obi to hang beside it. Lowering his eyes, he muttered softly, "Little brothers are such a pain."
