Achoo! Achoo! Achoo!
Holding the Communication Stone in his right hand, Arthur couldn't help rubbing the tip of his nose with his left.
Clearly, someone was thinking of him.
I hope things don't turn out too badly this time.
Arthur silently thought to himself.
Everyone hoped for an excellent outcome, but obsessing over an excellent outcome could lead to something truly terrible.
It was far better to settle for "good enough."
Good-enough matters, good-enough people, good-enough days, and good-enough pay.
It seemed muddleheaded, but it was actually a happy way to live.
Knowing when to stay muddleheaded wasn't some lofty state of mind.
It was an attitude toward life.
Arthur very much wished he could have it, but...
Impossible!
Carral had just told Arthur what was going on-
Hayes had asked him to pass along the entire plan, with midnight as the appointed time.
There was also what Jimte intended to do.
As for Carral himself?
He had given a rough account of that, too.
Compared with Hayes's and Jimte's schemes,
Carral's was rather simpler and more brutal.
The Marquis of Einhaas's nephew intended to seize the opportunity to spark a rebellion, inciting those pirates who had suddenly appeared to wreak havoc on the Inner Bay's wharves.
Of course, wreaking havoc wasn't the goal.
Nor was the pirates' burning, killing, and pillaging.
Carral's goal was to have Arthur make his entrance as a "hero."
And to make Little Lion die with even more unresolved grievances, Carral had directed all the looting toward properties under Little Lion's name.
These included, but were not limited to, companies, warehouses, and so on.
How should he put it?
Arthur knew Jimte, Carral, and Hayes were all audacious, deeply calculating fellows, and he also knew that bringing the three together might produce some wonderful chemistry.
