Every Precursor in the vast space stared at the godlike giant.
"How is this possible?"
"Carbon-based life forms can't display this kind of power. Not even silicon-based life forms can!"
"He... what on earth is he?"
Neither human civilization nor Precursor civilization could explain the giant's existence. He was something utterly beyond their understanding.
An invisible force protected the disabled Eureka Striker. Rather than crashing, it was set down amid the ruins of buildings strewn with the bodies of Kaiju cut apart by the Ultra Slash.
The moment they touched down,
Old Hansen and Young Hansen raised their heads and gaped at the giant, who remained utterly unfazed even while surrounded by Kaiju.
"That... that's the giant the marshal told us about."
"A giant just like that saved the marshal and Raleigh in Sitka."
"The marshal was right. He's practically a god..."
Old Hansen's understanding of the world suffered a tremendous shock. He had expected the giant to be powerful, but when the giant appeared before him, he suddenly realized that his expectations had still been far too conservative.
His meager imagination could never have conceived of the power a warrior from an advanced civilization might display.
The moment the two Jaegers were surrounded, he had thought it was all over.
Yet the reality before him was that the Kaiju trying to surround them were the ones finished.
He's so strong! Those Kaiju are as flimsy as paper against that ring of light!
He had no idea how Natsuki did it. Since he could not figure it out, he gave up trying. All he wanted now was to see this godlike giant wipe out every last enemy here!
For more than a decade, humanity had lived in the shadow of the Kaiju, barely clinging to survival under the enemy's threat. Countless people had died, and countless more had lost their homes.
Now, watching this unfold, Old Hansen, who had seen a Kaiju take his beloved's life, felt a powerful emotion surge through him.
It was the exhilaration of knowing that a terrible wrong was about to be avenged!
He could not help shouting, "Yes! Just like that!"
"Let them taste despair too!!!"
The younger Young Hansen's blood boiled even hotter at the sight, as though he were the one slaughtering everything here. He threw up his arms and cheered, "That's so damn cool!"
"Kaiju, Precursors-compared to Mr. Xia, they're not worth shit!"
"Hahaha! That's it! What a rush!"
A Kaiju had taken Young Hansen's birth mother from him. Now, seeing so many Kaiju tossed around by the giant like helpless chicks, he was filled with satisfaction and wild excitement.
Any Kaiju that tried to approach the giant and took so much as a punch or kick suffered grievous injuries at best, or died on the spot at worst.
The rings of light he kept hurling were even deadlier weapons. A light sweep slaughtered swathes of airborne Kaiju, and when they fell into the army below, they became unstoppable meat grinders, leaving screams in their wake. The sight was truly staggering!
At the same time, Young Hansen suddenly remembered what had happened yesterday.
Thank goodness I didn't say anything harsher in the cafeteria. If I'd really angered him back then, how terrifying would that have been?
Fortunately, Natsuki had not deigned to stoop to his level. Mr. Natsuki was far more good-tempered than he had imagined.
The first wave of Kaiju was slaughtered, and the next wave immediately surged forward.
But never mind Category I or Category II Kaiju-even hordes of Category IV Kaiju and Category V Kaiju attacking together could do nothing to him.
Seeing the situation turn against them, large numbers of Precursors hurried back into the buildings to prepare their defenses.
This wasn't how it was supposed to go!
Was this even human!?
Was this power a human should possess!?
"That... is what you called Ultraman?" The Archbishop-Class Precursor standing in front of Yochi stared fixedly at the slender giant and spoke through gritted teeth, his eyes filled with fury.
"Yes." Yochi watched the giant as well, his own heart roiling.
Doesn't something seem off here?
Is this Ultraman?
The first Leatherback had brought them fragmented images, which had already made them take Ultraman more seriously. But what was this supposed to be?
No, wait.
Why do I remember Ultraman just wrestling with Kaiju in streets or out in the mountains, like they're playing house?
Smashing a few buildings was already a highlight.
Now you're telling me this thing that blows an entire Kaiju apart with one punch is Ultraman!?
What the fuck...!
Tsuburaya! You fucking lied to me!
"However," Yochi forced himself to say, "no matter how strong he is, he can only remain active for three minutes."
"Once those three minutes are up, he'll be at our mercy."
He had still noticed the crystal on the giant's chest.
I admit you're far stronger than I imagined. We underestimated you.
But even Ultraman has to follow the basic rules. No matter how strong you are, what good will it do after three minutes?
We just have to hold out for the remaining two minutes or so, and we win!
"Hmph."
"Then it seems this creature's evolution is still incomplete." Upon hearing that their opponent had such a fatal weakness, the Archbishop's agitation subsided considerably.
What could he accomplish in three minutes?
They had waited more than two hundred million years to claim Earth.
"The number of weapons we possess far exceeds anything humanity can imagine."
"This giant of unknown origin is destined to perish here."
The Kaiju were biological weapons they had cloned. Their numbers were so vast that simply throwing themselves forward without regard for survival would be enough to drown the giant.
No matter how powerful he was, he was still alone. The disparity in their numbers was an unbridgeable chasm, and on top of that, he could only remain active for three minutes.
However they looked at it, they held the advantage.
At the center of the space illuminated by the crimson vortex,
The giant showed no fear of the enemies charging at him like a tsunami. Instead, he moved forward to meet them.
Bam!!!
His fist slammed into a Category IV Kaiju. An inexplicable force instantly spread across its body, sending its entire gray bulk flying like a cannonball. It crashed into the Kaiju behind it, knocking them backward in one piled-up layer after another.
Only after it struck the edge of a Precursor building and smashed a deep crater into it, ringed with spiderweb cracks, did it burst into a mass of shredded flesh, blue blood spraying wildly!
"Roooar!"
"Roooar!"
"Roooar!"
As the giant fought his way from midair down to the smoke-shrouded ground, still more Kaiju swarmed toward him. Their roaring onslaught seemed ready to swallow him whole.
Most of those Kaiju were taller than the giant, but he showed not the slightest panic at being surrounded.
He crossed his arms and swept them apart. Intense energy flowed into his palms with the motion, forming crescents that shot out from either side of his body in an instant!
The energy in this space interacted with them, trying to wear down the power of the attack, but nothing it did could affect the internal structure of the two light projectiles.
They plunged unchecked into the Kaiju on either side.
In a single instant!
Boom!!!
The Kaiju struck by the light projectiles were pierced straight through, utterly unable to withstand the energy within. They collapsed with charred holes in their bodies, while the projectiles hurtled into denser clusters of Kaiju and exploded with a thunderous blast!
