Arc 13The Holy Light and the Horde
The Holy Church expanded its influence in Quel’Thalas and Stormwind, winning the trust of commoners while confronting nobles and preparing the kingdom for Medivh’s betrayal. As the Orc Horde crossed into Azeroth and attacked Stormwind, the Holy Light Clerics met them in battle, and Durotan saw the cost of advancing against them.
- Alleria, Sylvanas, and Vereesa met Ria and learned that the Holy Church sought no invasion, while Alleria urged Anasterian to negotiate and later agreed to let elves believe in the Holy Light.
- Rich brought Holy Light Clerics to Stormwind, where they treated commoners, and he persuaded King Llane to establish Church offices offering free healing and aid to livelihoods.
- Holy Light Clerics confronted nobles who taxed and attacked the people, while Rich challenged their claims to rule and Llane began reconsidering the kingdom’s treatment of commoners.
- Medivh appeared before Llane’s court, displayed a sinister aura, and vanished, leaving a black-sand hourglass as Lothar warned of danger.
- Llane and Lothar visited Lakeshire, where Rich explained the Holy Church’s goals and revealed that a powerful being had possessed Medivh, then Llane agreed to pursue reforms for the people.
- Lothar organized Stormwind soldiers to study the Holy Light, while Gul’dan opened the Dark Portal and Durotan joined the Orc march into Azeroth.
- Medivh transformed Khadgar as Orcs attacked Stormwind’s outlying towns, and Rich ordered civilians to retreat while Captain Eras and Goya Zi helped lead them toward safety.
- A Holy Light Cleric Captain and his team held a fortified position against the Orcs, and Durotan realized Rend’s disastrous assault showed how costly the attack would have been for the Frostwolf clan.
