Just as the swarm consciousness had calculated, the seemingly ferocious locust swarms that blotted out the sky achieved nothing. They were wiped out in great swathes in an instant.
Two enormous Spherical Orbs sat on either side of Boss Slick's Ship, glowing white-hot as they charged. Whenever the locusts came within a certain distance, a bolt of lightning shot from an orb, branching into a chain-lightning web that swiftly burned them to ash.
This was Cheng Mingrui's invention, using technology borrowed from the Necrons. With a few modifications, it could also counter psychic units. Any enemy who used psychic power within the orbs' range would instantly suffer backlash.

Yet the thickly armored Boss Slick's Ship was so tough that those Tyranid Swarm warships wore down their teeth on it. Between several thick layers of armor and the Necrons' living metal, the Tyranids' warships ultimately hurt themselves twice as badly as they hurt their target when they bit down.
Countless warrior bugs also clambered along the Tyranid warships and leaped aboard Boss Slick's Ship. Their orders were simple: penetrate the Ork warship at any cost, cause destruction and chaos, and slow it down.
To a certain extent, those
