"Whatever. The process is always the same. Nothing special about it. As for fighting me, sure, you can-but you'll have to finish ascending to daemonhood first. Otherwise, you're just courting death," the daemon said scornfully.
"Heh heh heh." Cheng Mingrui laughed brazenly. After spending so long watching the Warp through the collective Waaagh! field, perhaps he was a little overstimulated-or perhaps Gork and Mork's protection had gone to his head.
"Got the guts to leave me your name? When I've got some time, I'll come find you and we can have a scrap."
"Hahahaha, you sly little fellow. I'm not telling you my true name." The daemon laughed, making the entire nebula tremble. "But you can call me Hops. Would you like to make a pact with me? You're very interesting. I think we might have opportunities to work together in the future."
"Hmph." Having failed to coax the daemon's true name out of him, Cheng Mingrui lost interest. A pact? Like hell I'd sign one with you. I'm not Abaddon.
Cheng Mingrui had no further interest in talking to the daemon. He withdrew from the collective Waaagh! field, ready to see how construction of the Gorkanaut behind Boss Slick's Ship was coming along.
But the daemon's name, Hops, remained deeply etched in his mind.
Aside from that little encounter with the daemon, nothing else of significance happened during the rest of their voyage through the Warp. Cheng Mingrui devoted his energy to building the super Gargant, occasionally taking in the scenery within the Warp when he had some free time.
The Warp wasn't all chaos and madness. In some places, traces of its former idyllic beauty could still be seen. Sadly, those places were slowly disappearing too, and the chaotic energies would eventually consume them.
