"": "The scraping sounds came from the wooden stretcher dragging along the ground. Part of the sheepskin trailed behind it, the blood on it leaving a long streak across the concrete road.
They spotted the Paifang of Cabinet Mountain Village from afar, walked up to it, then passed through.
For all the village's eerie, grotesque horrors, it stirred a feeling in Luo Bin.
Finally, we're back.
It's so good to be back!
Luo Feng dragged the wooden stretcher, while Gu Ya carried all the bundles. Luo Bin's right arm hung in a gauze sling. In his left hand, he held the wooden stick, topped with a sheep's skull, its horns draped with a sheepskin covered in tangled wool.
It was just past noon, and few people were on the village roads. Luo Bin initially thought nothing of it.
"There are too few people. Something happened in the village?" Luo Feng murmured.
A trace of unease showed in Gu Ya's eyes.
Just then, a door to one side swung open. Round-faced Old Kong hurried out, the freckles on his face even more prominent in the sunlight.
"Feng!" Old Kong cried delightedly, running onto the road and stopping in front of Luo Feng.
Old Kong reached out and punched Luo Feng in the chest. "I knew you wouldn't come back on time, but I knew you'd come back alive!"
He sucked in a sharp breath. The next instant, he stared at the sheep carcass on the stretcher in shock. "A Two-Legged Sheep? You killed a Two-Legged Sheep?"
Only then did his gaze sweep over Gu Ya and Luo Bin. Looking particularly at Luo Bin's right arm, he drew a deep breath.
"What happened in the village?" Luo Feng did not answer Old Kong's question. His eyes were grave.
