For the Aurora Race on Kam Star, this was definitely not a good day.
Although the Insect Race's airborne forces were pinned down by antiaircraft fire, there were simply too many of them, as though they would never end. Insect blood poured from the sky like a waterfall.
The Insect Race's ground assault was even fiercer. Those who fell from high above first were smashed to pieces, but those who landed afterward on the corpses suffered only minor injuries. Some even fell into the sea of blood and emerged completely unharmed.
Dierla, the Aurora Race's chief defense officer on Kam Star, was filled with despair, but he had to maintain morale outwardly. "Hold your ground!" he roared. "Reinforcements are already on their way! These inferior civilizations may be attacking fiercely, but we must never let them destroy the countermeasure device! Only by holding this position do we have any hope of victory!"
Although Dierla's encouragement seemed feeble before the insect tide, retreat meant death for the Aurora warriors too. Holding the countermeasure device might at least give them a slim chance of survival.
The Insect Race's ground forces used no energy weapons at all. Not even the Fortress Bugs had been deployed, nor were there any support units. There were only Speed Bugs, venom scorpions, and mantises, along with the massive Bone Shield Elephant Bugs and Shield-Spike Bugs, all relying purely on physical attacks.
There were no elaborate tactics, only staggering numbers. No sparks flew from the insects on the battlefield, only torrents of blood. There were no screams of pain, only furious screeches...
The Aurora Race had never seen a race so heedless of death. These insects seemed utterly incapable of dodging, letting bullets and energy beams strike their bodies. Their objective was clear, and there was only one:
