Shaking off sand was a real nuisance. Another thin layer of yellow sand had piled up on the floor, and leaving it unswept was an eyesore.
So Ke Meng finally spoke to White Sugar in human language again. "Can you sweep?"
White Sugar looked confused for a second, then understood.
But where was the broom she needed?
"Mm, knowing Koi Language really is convenient. Tangyuan, teach her how to sweep." From White Sugar's expression, Ke Meng could tell she understood.
Happy to take it easy, he delegated the task straight to Tangyuan.
Tangyuan barked happily, rolled his body out of the bedroom, and led White Sugar off to get a broom.
White Sugar fluttered her wings and flew lightly along. Her white feathers rustled, and sand rained down, scattering yellow grains all over the floor.
White Sugar flew through the bedroom doorway, down the hallway, and into the living room before fetching a broom from the kitchen.
When she looked back, a trail of yellow sand stretched all the way to her feet.
White Sugar was terrified. She knew from her master's tone that he disliked her shaking off sand.
But the more frightened she became, the more sand fell from her feathers.
Tangyuan barked beside her, wondering why this sand eagle wasn't getting to work.
Was it hard to handle the broom because she only had wings, not hands?
At that thought, Tangyuan suddenly felt very useful.
Dog Hair could twist together into an arm and sweep just like a human.
White Sugar couldn't do that. Her feathers were too short, and even if she understood fine control, she couldn't manage anything as precise as Tangyuan could.
