At nine sharp that morning.
The Bandaged Man and Old Shi arrived at Ke Meng's house together to receive the jade's cleansing.
Held in his hand, the jade rapidly turned dark gray, approaching pure black, though it had yet to blacken completely.
"I seem to be a lot better," Shi Jun murmured.
As his hidden ailment faded, he took some old photographs from his Storage Item and slowly examined them.
Previously, looking at these old photographs would either make his brain feel as though it were being torn apart or leave him unable to remember anything.
Now, there was no pain at all. His Spiritual Perception swelled to heights he could never have reached before, and scenes from his memories played through his mind.
He slowly began to remember things.
"You're Ke Meng. I remember!" Shi Jun looked up at Ke Meng in the room.
When Shi Jun had lost his memories, the Ke Meng he knew was the one from the videos-the Ke Meng strangers saw.
As the gates of his memory opened, the Ke Meng in his eyes became an old comrade who had fought alongside him, no longer the Ke Meng strangers saw.
The wrinkles on Old Shi's aged face relaxed. "You really remember?"
"Ah, I think I saw something incredible after opening the door." The Bandaged Man patted his head, trying to recall what had been inside the Door of Knowledge.
"Does your head still hurt?" Ke Meng asked directly.
The Bandaged Man shook his head. "I've forgotten all that so-called knowledge."
His brain had selectively forgotten that useless knowledge and, guided by his spirituality, recovered some of his memories.
Those memories happened to include Ke Meng, Old Shi, and the others.
Seeing his old friend regain his memories, Old Shi happily patted Shi Jun's shoulder.
