Rain pattered down over Many-Faced Valley, melting wood, blackening water, and scorching earth.
When the raindrops touched the animals, their heads, which had blended into their surroundings, suddenly lost their camouflage. Tiny fleshy tendrils sprouted from their bodies, then melting black fluid swallowed everything. After one long howl, they dissolved into puddles.
The beasts here would respawn some time after dying. Ke Meng struck swiftly, with no need to consider the ecosystem. The damaged environment would likewise recover after a while. That was simply how the game worked.
Otherwise, with players bombarding the surface with explosive magic every day, they would have blasted straight through the ground long ago. How could any place remain intact?
The animals in the forest were terrified. Then, as though driven mad, they charged toward Ke Meng, swinging their claws and unleashing terrifying light. Even the air began to tremble, with booms like thunder.
In an instant, the glow of skill effects blanketed the valley's entire central region. Surrounded by monsters, Ke Meng faced countless skills hurtling straight at his face.

The wild monsters of Many-Faced Valley were not particularly powerful, after all. They barely pierced Ke Meng's defenses and could only inflict a single point of damage.
The five-thousand-point damage popup was a side effect of his poison body. Otherwise, Ke Meng would not have lost any health at all.
Still, Ke Meng wore Blood-Tank Gear. He had not been working for nothing along the way. Whenever he looted, he deliberately kept equipment that increased his health or restored it. He also picked up a few pieces of defensive equipment, though they did little good.
The eerie thing about Many-Faced Valley's beasts was their mental pollution. As it happened, however, Ke Meng's resistance protected him on all fronts.
