"My lord, do you think Reed and the others will die?"
Goodness Home, outer city.
One of the factions with the twenty-one Tier Five professionals.
At its headquarters, guards and sentries lay sprawled across the ground.
Malken's aura enveloped the place, preventing anyone from seeing what was happening inside.
Good or bad, as long as it was worth something, Malken stuffed it into his Storage Ring.
As he packed things away, he thought of Reed, with whom he had gotten along fairly well over the past year, and instinctively asked the question.
"Life and death are dictated by fate. After enjoying the privileges of City Lords for so long with only Tier One strength, they should have expected this day to come. This is the price of enjoying those privileges."
An Kai answered Malken's question without even raising his head.
Reed's Four-Man Group, along with Polpi, the Tier One Knight without a mount, had managed to serve as the City Lord and Deputy City Lords of Goodness Home despite their meager strength, in a place with plenty of Tier Three, Tier Four, and even Tier Five professionals.
All of that was because An Kai stood behind them.
And today, in An Kai's plans, confiscating these factions' assets mattered far more than rescuing a few Tier One fellows.
If Reed and the others held out until An Kai finished looting and reached the castle, that would mean Lady Luck had blessed them.
If they failed to hold out and died before An Kai finished, that was simply their bad luck.
That bitch Lady Luck had not favored them.
"Malken, hurry the fuck up! Keep dawdling and you can get the hell out!"
Seeing that Malken, a Tier Five [Assassin], had stopped working while briefly pondering whether Reed would live or die,
