"Senior Sister," Li Xiaoya suddenly said to Zhang Hong, "we should heat the same spot together!" With that, he moved the Flame streaming from his hands toward hers with a rushing hiss.
"All right!" Zhang Hong replied, moving her Flame toward his as well.
The two streams of Flame merged at once, swelling into a larger pillar of fire that blasted against the metal wall.
After heating it for a while, Zhang Hong understood the gap between herself and Li Xiaoya. Her Divine Sense clearly detected that the Flame he released was considerably hotter than hers and contained purer fire spirit energy.
Yet even so, the metal wall showed no reaction whatsoever. It remained as pristine as ever.
"What's going on? There doesn't seem to be any reaction, Junior Brother Li," Zhang Hong said.
"Uh... we probably need to keep going a little longer," Li Xiaoya replied after a moment's thought.
"Mm."
Before they knew it, an hour had passed. Zhang Hong discussed cultivation insights with Li Xiaoya as they continued heating the wall.
"Ah! It's really reacting!" Zhang Hong suddenly cried in delight.
The metal wall had finally begun to react. Wisps of white vapor, almost too faint to see with the naked eye, slowly rose from the spot they were heating.
"Good! Let's turn up the heat!" As Li Xiaoya spoke, the Flame pouring from his hands blazed with red light, and even the air seemed about to scorch.
"All right!" Zhang Hong was startled; she had not expected Li Xiaoya to possess such powerful magic power still. She quickly answered and increased her own stream of Flame.
As time passed, more and more hot vapor rose from the heated spot, and its pitch-black color slowly began to fade.
"Whew!"
