The red sun sank westward, white waves surged sky-high.
The Eight-Armed Evil Dragon, as large as a range of silver mountains, crouched on the beach. Looking at the two completely shattered dragon eggs beneath it, its miserable jade-green pupils had turned red and swollen with bloodshot veins. It was practically glaring until its eyes cracked.
Overwhelmed by boundless fury, the ferocious beast let out earth-shaking roars. The tremendous sound split gold and shattered stone, piercing the clouds and startling flocks of birds into flight.
As one of the most terrifying sea fiends in legend, a royal member of the dragon race capable of battling deities upon reaching adulthood, the Eight-Armed Evil Dragon's eggs were not so easily eaten.
Even a demigod who rashly swallowed an Eight-Armed Evil Dragon's egg would suffer a backlash from the innately brutal and vicious dragon soul within.
Moreover, the dragon soul would not completely dissipate after the backlash. Instead, it would leave behind a mark. To other Eight-Armed Evil Dragons, any marked creature would stand out as brightly as a torch in the night.
Once discovered, the enraged Eight-Armed Evil Dragon would show the marked one what cruelty truly meant!
But now, the Eight-Armed Evil Dragon could not sense any trace of a young dragon's soul nearby, nor could it sense the mark. Before it lay only the crystal-clear shattered eggshells, as though they were silently recounting a tale of sorrow...
The Eight-Armed Evil Dragon Soul incubated within the eggs had actually been completely refined!
The enormous silver beast raised its head and howled. It could not find the murderer of its offspring at all! This drove the already savage and vicious Eight-Armed Evil Dragon nearly mad.
After a series of mournful howls, it began glaring with its enormous, bloodshot jade-green eyes. Dragging its colossal body, nearly fifty meters tall, it began charging about wildly.
The massive Eight-Armed Evil Dragon was like a walking silver mountain range. Nothing could halt its advance; even the vast coconut grove was reduced to rubble in an instant.
But it was far from finished.
After destroying the coconut grove, the Eight-Armed Evil Dragon's anger remained unquenched. It began activating its innate divine ability, and under its power, the island's weather immediately began to change.
Rumble, rumble...
Amid peals of thunder, the sky swiftly darkened. Vast masses of dense dark clouds blanketed the heavens, silver lightning serpents flickering between them as torrential rain poured down!
Lightning danced wildly, and hurricanes howled!
Countless towering ancient trees snapped beneath the fierce hurricane winds. Some were even uprooted and swept ten thousand meters into the sky. Everywhere was a scene of impending apocalypse.
The mountain-sized Eight-Armed Evil Dragon radiated a baleful aura that soared into the heavens. The silver flames on its body shone with utmost brilliance and began to flicker and leap about. This was a sign that its divine ability had been pushed to its limit.
After a bout of hysterical devastation, the Eight-Armed Evil Dragon finally charged into the dense forest beside the ancient primeval woods.
Bang, bang, bang...
Under the charge of the mountain-range-sized Eight-Armed Evil Dragon, swathes of trees began to collapse. The ground shook violently, birds took flight, and fierce beasts fled. For a time, the Primeval Forest was thrown into chaos.
Amid the turmoil, countless fierce beasts that had lived in the dense forest scattered in every direction. Many fled into the ancient primeval woods where Bai He and Xiao Chen were.
As though infected by the panic, the entire ancient primeval woods became restless. Whether they had originally lived here or in the dense forest, all the fierce beasts fled about in utter terror.
Among the fleeing creatures were not only ordinary animals at the bottom of the food chain, such as lions, tigers, and elephants, but also powerful and rare Prehistoric Mutant Species: golden male lions with divine wings, Three-Eyed Divine Wolves as large as giant elephants, four-winged golden centipedes nearly three or four meters long, and giant pythons with a single horn growing from their heads...
But neither Bai He nor Xiao Chen had any mind to admire or marvel at them. In this terrifying beast tide that nearly swept across the entire Primeval Forest, one careless misstep could get them trampled to death!
Hurricanes howled, lightning flashed, and thunder roared! Although they were already far from the Eight-Armed Evil Dragon, the terrible weather overhead showed no sign of easing.
Along the way, the two had to avoid fierce beasts while also dodging trees felled by lightning and hurricanes. Fortunately, Bai He's physique had been completely transformed by the dragon egg's cleansing. Otherwise, even with Xiao Chen's help, he likely could not have survived such horrifying chaos.
The Eight-Armed Evil Dragon continued its rampage, while vast numbers of savage beasts fled in all directions. Under the impact of the almost endless beast tide, there was no absolutely safe place in the ancient primeval woods, so the two could only hide wherever they could.
At last, they luckily found an unoccupied small cave. After blocking its entrance with a large boulder, they were finally able to catch their breath.
Having lost two dragon eggs, the Eight-Armed Evil Dragon was clearly even more frenzied than in the original story. Before midnight had even arrived, it had already charged beyond its own territory.
Finally, beneath the brilliant stars, the rampaging Eight-Armed Evil Dragon encountered an opponent—the tyrant of the dense forest farther inland, the Tyrannosaurus!
It could no longer tolerate an outsider stirring up trouble in its territory. Not even an Eight-Armed Evil Dragon of the same dragon race would be allowed!
Roar!...
With an equally earth-shaking roar, a heaven-shattering crash erupted from the dense forest in the inner reaches of Wild Island.
"On this island, there was actually a savage beast powerful enough to contend with the Eight-Armed Evil Dragon?!"
Inside the cave, Xiao Chen, Bai He's nominal master, stood beside him and immediately turned pale with shock upon hearing the sound.
"Heh! You probably don't know that this island is called Dragon Island, and there was no telling how many savage dragons lived here!"
Bai He curled his lip, secretly feeling the loneliness and isolation of being the only sober man among the drunken masses.
That night, the furious howling of the wind and the rumbling of thunder showed no intention of stopping. Instead, they only grew more intense.
Around the cave where Bai He was hiding, the death cries of fierce beasts constantly rang out. They were victims swept ten thousand miles into the sky by the Summoning Wind and Rain divine abilities of the two ancient fiends.
Without the cave's shelter, Xiao Chen and Bai He might also have struggled to keep their lives.
The two ancient fiends fought for an entire night. Only at dawn, when the sun began to peek over the horizon, did the storm finally subside.
The battle between the two fierce beasts had finally ended.
No one knew who had won, but when the Eight-Armed Evil Dragon, like a silver mountain range, passed slowly by in the distance with low growls escaping its mouth and its wounded body dragging behind it, Bai He's heart sank slightly.
It was too badly injured!
The enormous ancient fiend was covered in tearing wounds. The bone spikes along its body had almost all broken off, and silver scales had fallen away over large areas, revealing bloody, mangled flesh beneath. Of its eight clawed arms, only the two at the rear could walk normally. One eye was nearly blind and dripped blood, while one of the sharp silver horns on its head had been broken in half.
But its opponent, the tyrant Tyrannosaurus, likely had not fared much better either. The Eight-Armed Evil Dragon's bone spikes and sharp silver horn were likewise stained with blood, and some spikes even bore small chunks of flesh covered in azure scales.
"I only hope this won't affect the later plot!"
Watching the Eight-Armed Evil Dragon slowly depart in the distance, Bai He could not help worrying inwardly.
He did not know whether the Eight-Armed Evil Dragon that later sank countless ships bound for Dragon Island in the Forbidden Sea was this very one, but that did nothing to ease his concern.
The sun rose. When they left the cave, towering ancient trees lay toppled everywhere, along with the corpses of animals and fierce beasts that had nearly been smashed to pieces.
At least they would not need to worry about food for the next several days.
Stepping over heaps of broken branches and dead leaves, the two carefully made their way through the Primeval Forest. The surroundings were silent, and every surviving creature was quietly licking its wounds.
Their journey was uneventful despite a few scares. They returned to the Small Lake, blue as a sapphire. The bamboo hut they had built by the lake not long ago had been smashed into a complete wreck by the beast tide and was no longer habitable.
Looking at the miserable scene before him, Bai He secretly shook his head. Fortunately, the bamboo grove nearby was still standing, and they could build another hut.
Just as Bai He headed toward the bamboo grove to begin rebuilding the bamboo hut, Xiao Chen suddenly turned and walked to a large tree by the lake. From one of its branches, a piece of white gauze fluttered in the wind.
Taking down the gauze, Xiao Chen furrowed his brow and fell silent.
Beside him, Bai He was slightly stunned.
This seemed to be... Zhao Lin'er's? Was the inertia of the plot really this strong? This veil had still ended up blowing here.
