Vlorus was leading his men in firing out through the breach in the Secret Passage. The moment the Chaos Warriors struck, all he saw was an earth-shattering explosion. Then the dazzling glare briefly blinded him. When his vision returned, an Iron Warrior was charging toward them.
This warrior was not wearing heavy Terminator Armour, so he was lighter and had been blasted farther away. Now he intended to retreat into the Secret Passage.
Vlorus felt a headache coming on. His opponent could be in his face within a heartbeat, and he was probably the only one in this unit who could react in time.
There was no time to hesitate. Vlorus drew the Chainsword he had borrowed from the unit next door. He had never expected to face Chaos Warriors twice in a single campaign.
"For the Emperor!"
The enemy smashed straight through the wall, sending fragments shooting outward at tremendous speed. Amid that dense shower of debris, a towering warrior surged against the flow. Taking advantage of the instant the enemy stiffened upon landing, Vlorus swung his blade with both hands.
The Chainsword struck the Iron Warrior's Powered Arm Plate, throwing up a shower of sparks. Vlorus could not bring out the weapon's full power. It barely sawed through the enemy's Power Armour and grazed a little flesh.
The Iron Warrior swept his arm out hard, sending Vlorus flying with tremendous force and driving him deep into the wall.
The Iron Warrior was about to bend down to retrieve his fallen Warblade when several surviving mortal soldiers charged him. Instead, he drew the Combat Knife strapped to his leg and killed the brave mortals with a few slashes.
