Towering waves

To Kazhaniv, these Fire Caste melee warriors in battlesuits were less troublesome than the drones.

In close combat, reaction speed decided life and death. Fire Caste battlesuits still relied primarily on T'au control, with intelligent systems providing support. Even if those systems reached a decision instantly, a T'au warrior still had to confirm it before it could be executed.

T'au Fire Caste warriors only had reaction speeds on par with surgically enhanced humans. By the time they reacted, their heads would already be flying thirty feet away.

The Cataphractii Terminators' deflection fields protected the warriors, making these feeble attacks feel more like attempts to wash grime off their armour.

The battle-hardened veterans of the First Company rampaged through the enemy ship.

Precious XV25 Crisis Battlesuits were deployed. These advanced suits, capable of 99.9 percent optical concealment, had once inflicted heavy casualties on the Imperium. Now, exposed by Bars's Psyker Glow, they were blasted to pieces.

In open areas, Wasp Drones constantly strafed the Cataphractii Terminators. Vespid and Kroot fearlessly charged up to the Terminators, trying to cut down the metal monsters with their "powerful" bodies.

The T'au XV48 Fire Support Battlesuits poured fire into them from a distance, only to discover in despair that their kinetic weapons could merely slow the enemy down. They could at least leave a few craters in the "dog-headed" enemies, but against the towering shoulders of Terminator Armour, they produced nothing more than ripples across the enemy shields.

That should not have been possible. These enhanced, extended-range armour-piercing rounds should have penetrated the enemy's so-called Power Armour, or at least cracked it.

Were all the enemies wearing "commander-class heavy armour"?

(Because so few Terminators had been deployed during the previous expedition, they had assumed this tough armour was a precious "battlesuit" worn by commanders.)
