The power of the Plague Brewer's fine wine gradually revealed itself. Once the Astartes' powerful preomnor digested all the organic matter surrounding the aromatic substances, alloy particles were exposed inside their bodies.
The preomnor was one of the biological organs implanted in these superhuman warriors. It could process many dangerous substances, but one round of digestion was not enough for the plague brewer's metal.
Under normal circumstances, these alloy particles would circulate through their power armour and enter the preomnor a second and third time, until they broke down into the ionic forms of their constituent metals.
(Astartes had poison glands in their mouths that could corrode iron chains. They could switch them on and off at will, but who would turn those on while drinking?)
When the Space Wolves' Battle Barge entered the warp, the "doggoes" that had been waiting nearby rushed at them impatiently.
A Great Company of Space Wolves fought a bloody battle against masses of Nurgle Forces. Thanks to their Blank shields, the Space Wolves gradually gained the upper hand.
It did not last. Countless Rustfallen converged from across the warp, and the more they fought, the more enemies appeared.
Just as the Plague Brewer had anticipated, the Chaos power contained within the dead Rustfallen corroded the Space Wolves' warriors far more efficiently than in ordinary battles.
The longer they fought, the stronger the corruption became.
The Death Guard waiting behind the "doggoes" stormed the Space Wolves' Battle Barge. Viruses and plagues began spreading through the sacred vessel.
Yet the mighty Emperor's Angels did not succumb to corruption as their enemies had expected. The loyal warriors resisted Chaos corruption through sheer willpower. The Rustfallen appearing inside their bodies found no corrupted flesh, and could only devour the healthy wolf flesh instead.
