Khârn was now like a rabid dog unleashed from its cage, recklessly tearing apart everything before him. After his repeated deaths and resurrections at Khorne's hands, the Butcher's Nails had become nothing more than a conduit for Khorne's blessings. The power of destruction enveloped him.

The Custodian flew back seven or eight body lengths before landing gracefully, elegant and seething with anger. An Astartes traitor had humiliated him in combat.

The battle-axe named Blood Son had hacked through his auramite breastplate, severing the wings of the proud Aquila Emblem over his heart. He was furious.

Khârn spun his axe. It was one of the two battle-axes Angron had once wielded, the weapon with which Khârn the Betrayer had destroyed the last vestiges of unity in the World Eaters Legion.

The Radiant Sword tore open his exposed left arm. A bloodlike red liquid spilled from the wound: the Warp blessing bestowed upon him by the Skull Throne, condensed into something almost tangible. The liquid dispersed around him, allowing him to ignore the bolts fired by distant Ultramarines. He all but disregarded psychic attacks; only the strongest Librarians could briefly slow him down.
