The battered little ship Mapus had arrived in was not covered in Leviathan Sea Monster hide. The fierce pursuit had destroyed the entire covering before that. It might have blocked auspex scans, but it offered no optical camouflage; the enemy had spotted the ugly escape ship by sight.
Even so, the hologram brought a faint flicker of heretical shock to the Crimson Tide's elite veterans present.
The warship Tech-Priest Mapus had built was hideous-so hideous that it reminded Rogier of the sea monsters on Fenris.
"This takes me back to my first sea monster hunt. Damn it, I can't help wanting to put a harpoon through it."
"Chapter Master, I think this warship has tremendous strategic value. It might be able to slip into a Tyranid Swarm. At the very least, if the Imperium or some other xenos saw it, they'd think the Tyranids were about to invade," Bars said, rubbing his Emperor pendant.
Infiltrating the Tyranids was impossible. Their minds were linked through psychic power, and Evan knew that much. Scaring people, however, did seem entirely possible.
They could trick the enemy into deploying their main forces for defense, or simply frighten them into packing up overnight. Either way, it would force major troop movements.
"I like that idea. It'll have a place in our future plans."
Hearing Evan's approval, Tech-Priest Mapus breathed a sigh of relief.
As long as he liked it, there would be no major problem. The question now was how to persuade Evan to let him serve the magnificent Gloriana-class Battleship.
He did not care where the warship had come from, whether the Imperium knew about it, or which battlefields it would be deployed to.
All he cared about was whether he could serve it.
