A T'au Resistance force had rioted, so the Chapter deployed several capital ships to wipe out these rebels who had the will to Waaagh but none of the ability. They also "accidentally killed" large numbers of T'au along the way. For example, if there was one rebel, I would use missiles to flatten every living thing within several dozen meters.
With a "little" guidance from the Ethereals, the T'au population began opposing the Resistance themselves. After all, for ordinary T'au, life had scarcely changed after Evan arrived. Their benefits had declined a little, but their safety had improved considerably.
The poor Fire Caste and Earth Caste rebels relied on new weapons stolen from laboratories by rebel scientists as their core fighting strength, supported by large numbers of converted agricultural machines. They actually thought they could resist. They had absolutely no concept of the Crimson Tide's military power.
The other trouble involved the First Legion.
A great mass of xenos had been driven over from the edge of the Ghoul Stars, probably as retaliation by the First Legion. What surprised Evan was that they still had the strength to spare for driving xenos around.
