At Hecarimo's Iron Curtain Line, the situation gradually shifted from a massive offensive to a full-blown internal purge of traitors.
The Crimson Tide's warships attacked less and less frequently, because incidents of corruption within their ranks were rising sharply.
Even crew members whose ships had never traveled through the warp showed symptoms of corruption. Every prayer and every surge of emotion called out to warp daemons.
The Adamantium Warriors were completely pinned down inside their ships. There were far too few suits of Adamantium Armor compared with the number of ships and mortals. They could not spread their strength to every suffering compartment.
Fighting became increasingly frequent. The only consolation was that the mortal support reserves in the next star system remained unaffected, as though the warp had concentrated its power solely on Hecarimo's Iron Curtain Line.
Sealing off an area from nothing, without any Chaos Ritual, consumed enormous amounts of the Dark Gods' power, but that did nothing to dampen the Chaos forces' enthusiasm.
Warp rifts kept appearing. Mandeville Point was absurdly crowded.
The reports did indeed mention many loyal Space Marine Chapter companies arriving to help. At first, the Crimson Tide had been the ones beating them up, but most of the later arrivals had not been destroyed by us. They had been damaged after stumbling straight into the Chaos Fleet's melee near Mandeville Point.
Evan did not hesitate either. If even a force this strong has to back off, the Imperium might as well give up and let Chaos rule everything!
