Evan felt as though a door had fallen from the sky, hurtling toward his head.
His feet were already sunk into the floor, and pulling them free immediately was unrealistic. The experienced White Scars Big Boss glanced up and saw that his opponent was chopping down with only one arm. The other was "transforming," a dark gun muzzle emerging from its steel restraints.
One arm, then. You think I'm afraid of you?
Evan raised his left arm—his original, flesh-and-blood arm—to meet the attack, bracing against the lower edge of the ceramite plate. Like Li Jing holding up his pagoda, he took the force with one hand while Snow Eagle flicked upward from below and severed an exposed pipe.
The ammunition feed snapped, spilling bolter rounds. After cutting through it, the sharp blade swept sideways and struck the muzzle precisely.
Go on, shoot. I've cut halfway through your barrel. Do you dare?
As most of his opponent's weight pressed down on the ceramite plate, Evan sank farther into the floor. He was forced to switch from supporting the plate to pushing it toward his opponent. Had those powered greaves not been cylindrical, it would surely have smashed into his opponent's toes.
Once the ceramite plate had driven diagonally into the floor, Snow Eagle was already withdrawn. His opponent's own plate blocked his gunfire, and Evan shoved hard, pushing himself out of the hole.
For once, Evan discovered that his advantage over his opponent was speed.
The White Scars Big Boss broke into a run, his two Pheasant Plumes swaying overhead. The sensors at their tips looked down and exposed his opponent's little secret: the enemy's weapon rack was changing shape. If their Adamantium Armor's weapons counted as a vest, this fellow wore a shirt, a sweater, a down jacket... bundled up
