By the time Bona reached the bridge, the situation had already deteriorated catastrophically.
The captain was clearly a novice fresh out of the naval academy, and was now issuing orders in a panic.
"Captain, tell me what's happening."
"Ah, my lord, we... we..."
"Decks B and C have been completely overrun. The enemy boarding parties are still advancing steadily."
"We've lost contact with all six escort frigates on the perimeter. The light cruiser Koushanuo has sustained heavy damage."
Bona looked out from the bridge, and his expression instantly darkened.
The Necrons had deployed three battleship-class warships and more than a dozen cruisers.
By some unknown means, they had suddenly appeared before the fleet.
Green Lightning shot from their warships, striking the nearby light cruiser with pinpoint accuracy, melting its hull and setting its internal structure ablaze.
As for the cruiser beneath his feet, large numbers of Necron troops had teleported straight aboard. Eighty percent of the ship had already fallen.
Yet, unexpectedly, the Necrons had not attacked the unarmed transport fleet.
Bona hardly believed this was mercy on their part. They were probably just giving him time to think.
He sighed and walked to the edge of the bridge.
"Necrons, I know you've cracked our communications. You should be able to hear me."
"Stop attacking now, and I'll go with you."
Everyone on the bridge was stunned. The captain flushed red and immediately protested.
"No, my lord, you must leave!"
"We'll give our lives to help you escape into the Warp!"
"Then what happens to the forty million colonists in the fleet behind you?"
The captain wanted to say more, but one look at Bona's cold eyes made him shut his mouth.
He felt that if he actually said it, his head would be crushed a second later.
"Your mercy
