"So you're going to Vigilus?" Bona asked, puzzled.
Horus nodded.
"Yes. There are some things I have to face myself."
Thunderhawk had originally drawn up a war plan for Vigilus. Guilliman did not want to lose the Nachmund Gauntlet, and neither did Bona.
But after learning that Sanguinius had gone there with the Blood Angels, Bona decisively canceled the plan.
Fight, fight, fight-fight my ass. As if Abaddon could beat the Imperium's War Saint.
Sanguinius's record was staggering even among the Primarchs. During the Siege of Terra, he had held a gate alone, driven back a tide of daemons, slain two renowned Bloodthirsters, and beaten Angron to a pulp.
Had the Great Angel not been somewhat exhausted back then, and caught off guard by Bona's arrival, he might even have held Bona up for a while.
Besides, to crush the T'au Empire and the Great Devourer, Thunderhawk had all but spent an entire generation of the Imperium Nihilus. It would take decades to recover.
Under the Thunderhawk Empire's current political system, it was almost impossible for Horus to assemble a force to take to Vigilus. The entire Departmento Munitorum would have to be mad to let him take away any of their already scarce troops.
His only reliable option was to approach Bona, whose prestige was immense. After all, Bona had personally recruited most of the Departmento Munitorum's current senior officials.
Still, Horus's wish to go to Vigilus came as something of a surprise to Bona.
"Hmm..." Bona pondered for a moment.
"Will you be safe there? Or should I find someone to go with you?"
Looking into Bona's dull, vacant eyes, Horus felt a faint stirring in his heart.
"No need. A few troops will be enough. I don't need anyone else."
"All right. I'll visit the Departmento Munitorum
